  1. Just a quick one ladies & gents. Currently in the market for a new scope and have anything from £200-400 budget. However, their is just so much choice out there with multiple magnifications and lenses. For air rifle use is a variable magnification scope really necessary??? I like the look of the Hawke Tactical range and see that they have a fixed 10x Mag scope. I find that most of my shooting is done at 30-35 yards so is variable magnification really necessary or simply a nice to have? Also fixed magnification would eliminate changes in the reticle and holdover would remain consistent resu
  2. Which Sidewinder do you prefer as a see that you have different models and different reticles?
  3. If money isn't an issue and I mean less than £400 given the fact that will cover most scopes from the major Air Rifle players, what scope is the best for hunting? Consideration needs to include the reticle magnification etc.
  4. Has anyone had experience with an MTC Optics Genesis 5-20x50??? Are they MTC's equivalent of Hawke Sidewinder??? I notice Daystate lean towards MTC when opting for rifle scope combos.
  5. Power isn't a problem as it is 11.7lb/ft with JSB Exacts.
  6. I suppose thats like most things in life, if they are expensive to buy they are generally expensive to service whether it be cars, boats, motorbikes etc. I don't see why rifles would be any different and I happy to accept the fact. There is just something about the Daystate range that I love apart from the fact that they look amazing.
  7. One of the most efficient heavy pellets in most guns are jsb heavies 10.3gr Well I guess my results show that not to be the case. Maybe it differs with a springer but through my Airwolf they certainly aren't. Well I guess my results show that not to be the case. It may well be with a springer but not in my airwolf Cant see any results showing JSB heavies Apologies I was talking about H&N Barracuda Match pellets @ 10.4gr.

  9. Not necessarily! What makes and types are most likely to produce the highest readings. I was thinking that a light pellet would leave the gun faster but the chrono would be set at the pellet weight so it should even out. I was told of a case where a gun was tested 20 times and were all in the limit so they just kept going and managed to get one at 12.1. I was also told that the owner of the gun was of interest to the testers and the gun was taken away. I don't know if he got it back. The Police have to deal with a lot of things that are not very nice but it sends shock waves when you h
  10. Recently purchased an Airwolf. 1st ever rifle and boy am I pleased with it. .177 and deadly accurate at 30yrds pushing out 11.7lb/ft with JSB Exacts.
  11. JSB Exacts for me. Great pellet but each rifle is different so try a few before you settle on 1. However, having spoken to many the JSB's do seem to go well in most rifles. I found the 4.52 to be the best.
  12. Just how good are Hawke Sidewinder Tactical scopes? I've been thinking about upgrading my Hawke Sport HD with a 6.5-20x42 Sidewinder. Is there anyone with any experience like to share their thoughts? Current rig: Daystate Airwolf .177, Harris 6-9 Bipod & Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50.
  13. Right lets sort this out...... Kinetic Energy at the muzzle is calculated by using the following calculation: E=WxV2/K I have tried numerous pellets and the results are conclusive in that a heavier pellet will decrease muzzle velocity for any given power as to will a pellet that is too light. Here is an example.... Take my favourite pellet JSB Exacts in .177 (8.44g) passed through my Airwolf at 790ft/s that equates to 11.7ft/lb Then Take the H&N Barracudas Match in .177 (10.4g) passed through my Airwolf at 685ft/s that equates to 10.8ft/lb Then Take the
