  1. The hitch hiker from Texas chainsaw massacre, he had a knife, and knew how to open up a hand lol
  2. The cheapest way of dimming a "lamp" (I'm presuming that is the English terminology for a spotlight used for hunting) is what I've done for many years, and quite some years done as a pro rabbit shooter in central Australia. On the nights when the bunnies don't like a bright light, I used to just smear the lens with blood till you get the desired intensity. When finished, just wash it off. Simple, yet effective.
  3. OK you guys, the majority opinion here tells me to name the NV equipment I bought. I do this purely on the basis that the camera I bought was what the company advised me as being compatible. I have sent numerous emails back to the company with regard to their "poor and conflicting advice", and at time and date of writing this, I still have had NO new response from them at all. The particular unit that I purchased is a NiteSite 200 I will add however that the night sight unit itself works very well and performs up to its claims and if anything it slightly exceeds the claimed distance.
  4. Thanks to one and all for your suggestions etc. I have now been informed from a person that has good knowledge of cameras that the NightVision company definitely gave me incorrect advice in the first instance. It seems this particular camera is incapable of recording from an external device. I guess I simply got royally screwed by the NightVision company, because I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to cameras. Cheers to all
  5. Well, If I name the vendor I name the Company as they are one and the same. To clarify,,,, I bought the NV equipment direct from the manufacturer in England. and,, I bought this particular camera on the NV equipment manufacturers recommendation. I had no previous experience whatsoever in NV cameras, and have no idea of what brands are usually used. Hence, I relied solely on the advice of the NV equipment manufacturers recommendation, thinking that to be the wisest thing to do.
  6. This is the camera and its cord that I bought on their recommendations. It is a double ended USB connection. The Night Vision companies cable and its adaptor ends with 3 full size DIN plugs. Apart from the fact that their cable/plugs don't fit the camera USB ports,, they also said that that camera itself is not suitable, whereas when I quoted the make and model camera in the first instance they said it was suitable.
  7. I didn't think it was ethical, nor allowed, to actually NAME them. Besides,, being on a pension I cannot afford to now go and buy another camera. Thanks for your feelings and suggestions though.
  8. Twelve months ago I purchased some Night Vision equipment from a company based in England. After using it for several months, I decided to go the next step to enable video recording as well. I enquired via email as to what I needed, and was advised to purchase their video cable and adaptor. I also asked what brand of camera to buy. By return email I was given two different brands. So I found one of the recommended brands, and got its model number, and then to double check I asked via email if that particular model was suitable. The reply said Yes,, it is suitable. So bas
  9. Dead right Mate. I seam welded and plug welded three sheets of 5/16" plate together in a sandwich arrangement for all the exterior surfaces of my cabinet. (This creates a lamination effect that is near impossible to cut thru with an oxy torch unless a would be thief has an awful lot of time, and doesn't mind charcoaled firearms if he does get that far.) Then between the outer plated walls and the inner wall (which is bolted in place from the inside) is a layer of fire cement. The 8 locking shafts in the door are made of hardened and tempered Chromium steel. The cabinet itself is anchoure
  10. Hi, No, it's not "up to spec",,,,,,,, it's actually far in excess of specs. Manufacture and repair is my trade.
  11. Here's a tip,, Do what I did,,,,,,,, Build your own. (see pic)
  12. Hi Rake aboot, Thanks, and thanks for the lesson on flags, So do I call you Paddy ?????? hahahaha Just kidding.
  13. Hi Rake aboot, I'm only guessing here, but looking at your flag, Is that Sweden ????? I'm largely uneducated when it comes to overseas flags. Cheers
  14. Hi Paulus, Unfortunately, as I sort of said previously, Common Sense seems to be a thing of the past. And, as with so many other LAFOs, we didn't make these knee jerk laws, but we are forced to abide by them. In our world of so called "free speech" some of us are even frowned upon for mentioning the word silen#*r. I used to use one many years ago when nobody seemed to care about them. (I'm not even sure when they were officially banned) The one I used to have, I bought from a local sports store. It was invaluable for the destruction of rabbits, that I was being paid to do by the l
  15. they are treated the same way as a firearm, if you can prove you have a need for one then permision for one will be granted, health and safety on hearing is enough to get approval granted Hi, and thanks for that information, That sounds suspiciously like "common sense" I didn't realize common sense prevailed these days. Ever since they were banned over here, there has been a bit of a ground swell of "LAFO's" (law abiding firearm owners) saying the same thing, as in "Health and Safety" etc. I myself would agree to see them manufactured with Serial Numbers, like firearms, a
  16. Hi to all from Aussie, Apologies if this question appears twice, I have tried several times previously without success to post it. In a nutshell I simply want input from UK members on the ownership and use of sound moderators on rifles in the UK. From You Tube videos I have watched, they seem to be commonly owned and used. Is this true ? Or, what if any restrictions apply over there ? They are totally banned now here in Australia. Cheers,
  17. Hi Celticrusader, No worries mate, I will endeavor to put up some pictures. Unfortunately it may not be for a little while yet, as I'm coming to grips with news that my 17 month old Rottweiler has got bone cancer. She has been given two months at best. So hunting at the moment isn't exactly at the top of my list. Cheers,
  18. Hi, and thanks, Re your query on dogs, No I have dogs but don't use them hunting. I usually prefer to either cover ground (especially when after feral pig) on a Yamaha 660cc Quad, or find a hide and lay in wait and then snipe whatever I may be hunting at the time. Cheers mate
  19. Hi, I have read some posts on this forum with regard to the abovementioned. In particular, there was mention of this sight not being really compatible to "some" scopes, due to ? lens coatings. Has anyone tried this sight in conjunction with a "ZEISS DURALYT 3-12 x 50" ? If so, what sort of results were obtained, and what are your recommendations ? I am thinking of purchasing one of these sights, and would be using it on both a 22/250 and 30-06 rifles. Cheers,
  20. Hi to all, I've just joined your forum, so here is a little bit about myself. My name is Ed. I live in the state of Queensland which is of course located in Australia. My hunting probably takes in a lot more variety than you people get in the UK. eg: rabbit, fox, feral dogs, feral pigs, deer, water buffalo and wild duck. I look forward to contributing to your forum, as well as gaining information from your side of the world. As a starter, I am going to pose a question in the appropriate section with regard to Night Vision equipment. Namely,,,,,,, Nite Site NS 200 Cheers, Ed
