  1. I havent taken any of the post's badly, its been good to hear both sides...... And as for the going to ground thing I allways collar my ferrets and after the otherday when he entered the warren, wich I didn't encourage he just did off his own back im now in the middle of finding the dog a locator! I see your point about it but how do you stop a dog from bolting down a hole??? He recalls fine but he getts head strong at times like that
  2. Last night just before bed I went into my garden for a smoke, the dog came with me and just as I was comming in I could hear him crunching something I dont know what it was as he didnt have it in his mouth when I got to him and I couldent see anything about........ The next morning I woke up to the dog being sick and he has been for more times and is off his food, im obviously going to take him to the vets if he doesnt get better...... Just wondering if anyone's had anything similar happen???
  3. Thank you everyone you've certainly put some demons to rest, I suppose I should just go with whats inside aswell and stop listening to people who obviously are just trying to put my dog down or just dont know what ther talking about!
  4. I had the same problem with my dog untill he stuck his head down a hole while I was untangling a rabbit from a net, and sox my best ferret who has a deep seeded hatred for everything and everyone in this world apart from me decided that my dogs eyes look just as tasty as rabbits and bit him on his eye. Luckily she didnt cause any real damage but needless to say he dossent stick his face in the wholes anymore when he can smell ferret
  5. Like I said im happy n we are totally inseparable....... Its just with my inexperience and my mate takin the p*ss all the time I didn't know what to think! When you look at him from the front his legs do bend inward and his head is a lot smaller than my friends terrier's, I think I posted this more for a constructive opinion from people in the know rather than my mate who seems not to like the way he looks

  9. Looks like you had the same idea as me yesterday, I had a sall haul but bags of fun, and some time out with my boy. Great pics by the way!
  10. Yesterday me and my lad got up just as the sun was breaking the horizon after a quick cup of tea and some toast we set of to my permission wich is just at the back of my house, we traveled light as the missus had an appointment in a few hours, the idea behind it was that we'd go for a quick mooch and anything my jack russle marked we'd ferret and as soon as we had one for the dog one for the ferrets and one for the table we'd head home. As it turns out the first two warrens we come across seemed less used than usual and the dog showed no intrest so on we whent, the third we encounterd was diff
  11. Great! Thanks everyone...... I think with my inexperience I was half expecting him to develop some sort of inability to work, or there was some sort of underlining health problems that came hand in hand with the trait's people avoid....... Next time my mate takes the p**s ill tell him to shove it
  12. I suppose not....... Thank you you'v just put my mind at ease in one fell swoop, if he works he works!
  13. Last year I bought myself a jack russle this being my first ever dog purchase I somewhat dove straight in and over looked what many of you seasoned terrier owners would consider to be school boy errors whilst buying a dog, the end result was (and dont get me wrong here because this dog and me are now totally inseparable) a queen Anne legged, 5 and a half kg snipy faced "so im told" jack russle called patch, a friend of mine who keeps a few working terrier's always chuckles and says "we learn by our mistakes" when he see's patch, now allthough he might not be the thickest set jack ive seen or
