    Yeah still got the bits but wouldn't mind getting it working properly. Mag clips in and holds fine, I'm thinking of seating the bullet heads in a bit further and going from there.

    Afternoon all, I've recently treated my howa to a ten shot mag conversion and I appear to be getting a slight problem with the bullets feeding from the magazine. It's as if the bullets are to long and catch in the mag and tilt with bullet head pointing down. I didn't get this problem before and was wondering if anyone else has come across this?

    Sorry for the late response fella, I bought my self a Vortex Viper a couple of days ago i'm afraid, thanks very much for the offer though. That's a great scope at a great price!!

    I never had to send in a permission letter or wait for a letter from the FD when I moved up here to the estate, I just phoned the FLO for this postcode when I got here, told him I'd just moved up here, that Avon and Somerset will be sending my details over and that I'd be doing all the shooting on this land and his response was to just crack on, then he eventually came round to check my cabinet etc. Quite frankly if that really is there policy its ludicrous, what if you'd been given permission to shoot say a few problem foxes that were causing £££'s of livestock damage and you had to wait wee

    Christ that's got some magnification on it!! I don't need quite that much but I'm trying to find a stockist local-ish to me so I can look at a few in the range at least as the pricing's not bad. Its nice to hear a good word about them from someone that uses them instead of someone just trying to sell them, thanks.

    Cheers for the welcome, its a cracking part of the country with some ace countryside with some good ground and good shooting, I love it!! They deserve the praise, I've heard a lot of people slating the firearms departments up and down the country but personally myself I can't fault them. Both Kent and Avon and Somerset have done good by me and I can't rate them enough.

    Having not long moved here from South Gloucestershire way where Avon and Somerset were my local branch (which also provided great service) I was due a visit from the local FAO to check cabinet security etc. Well when he came round last Thursday I thought I'd run a few variations to my licence by him which we discussed and he was happy to approve, Now I'd been told by local people and the FAO that it can take anywhere from six to ten weeks so one thing I was expecting was a phone call five working days later to say it was ready for me to either pick up direct from the station or to post off!! S

    If I'm honest I tend to avoid second hand scopes after a bad experience buying one before that turned into a nightmare to get my money back!! If you don't mind me asking which Viper as there are some in the range way out of what I'd like to spend for some thing that's going to get a hard life?!

    Can anyone recommend a suitable scope for a .223 that doesn't break the bank? Its for a truck gun that will see a few knocks etc round the estate so I don't want to spend a small fortune on optics that stand of chance of getting damaged. Most shooting with the rifle would be done at distances of about 100-200 yards. I've been looking at some of the vortex optics range but not having or knowing anyone that's used them I would appreciate others input.

    Good morning all!! My names Sean J, I'm male, 26 and from the Cotswold area. My entire life I've been into bushcraft, self sufficieny, survialist scenarios, expeditions etc but strangely never hunting!!
