  1. Deker what do you mean by a Canada? is it a goose? well I think the HMR is a far better round than the WMR. the .17 has 3" less drop at 150 yards and nearly 10" less drop at 200 yards it also has 3" less wind drift at 100 yards, 7" less drift at 150 yards and 12" less at 200. it also retains more FTLBs from 100 yards to 200 yards. as for using the HMR as a rabbit gun and the WMR for fox I would use them the other way round not that anyone is doing that.

  2. charlie caller the .17 HMR is a far better round than the .22 WMR and I have a .22 WMR. I know you really don't like the .17 HMR but I cant work out why. the 30gr v-max .22 WMR has a bc of around .095 when the 17gr .17 HMR has a bc of .125. the .17 HMR is a lot flatter and better in the wind than the .22 WMR. the little .17 HMR is more effective on fox on further ranges and its super accurate.

  3. the same thing happened to a mate of mine 2 weeks ago the first 3' was soft soil then the next 5' was loos stone and rock. we tried our best to get him out but by the time we got to him he was gone. he was a great dog never held back. he has a bitch pup from him for next year and here's hoping. its sad but that's part of the game.

  4. there's a lot of piss takers on here Aaron but the funny thing is most of them don't know how to work a dog. 56 is a very good bag fair play to the red dog, keep the good work up. any pics of the dog? I would love if I had that many around me I would be very lucky to even see that many. my best so far is 15 and the bitch has another 15 in her and more. mixo is a bitch.

  5. I cant see you getting a .243 for fox alone but then you don't need it if Hornady are right. according to Hornady's ballistics calculator the 53gr Superformence round with a bc .290 zeroed at 250 yards travels as follows. MPBR at 100 yards +1.9" at 150 yards +2.3" at 200 yards +1.7" at 250 yards 0" at 275 yards -1.3" at 300 yards -3" and then drops fairly fast after that. so on a fox sized target its point and shoot out to 300 yards with no wind. I'm not 100% on this but I think with a 10mph cross wind the bullet drift is 16" at 300 yards. good enough for any fox in my book.

Edited to say wind drift at 300 yards with a 10 MPH cross wind is 8.5"
