  1. I remember once when nothing had come in for ages and we looked out at the decoys to see a fox walking around between them! ................Clearly we weren't that observant in those days!
  2. Uncanny how they know when you pour yourself a coffee though isn't? :-)
  3. Well it's been 40 years since I decoyed pigeon and it would be interesting to know if much has changed. This is how I used to do it. Find a flight line and set up a hide. Walk 30 paces into the field and face the wind. Walk one pace into it and place your first decoy. Set all of the others out in random fashion behind the first. The pigeon will fly over the decoys and land right in your killing zone! If things get quiet try pouring yourself a coffee; they will flood in! Do I still have it or what? :-)

  5. Oddly enough my very first flying shot was a woodie at around that distance; I was standing at the front of a barn when it went over. It was quite high up as well and came down with one hell of a thud. I think it was a bit of a lucky shot for me but at the end of the day at least I got it! :-)
  6. Evening all, I am a one-time rough shooter who gave it all up many years ago and now wish I hadn't! :-) When I was 16 I had permission to shoot for free on a 1000 acres of land. It was mainly pigeon and rabbit shooting but with the odd bit of wildfowl and game from time to time. Most of the time we did decoyed pigeon shooting from hides. Anyhow I shot the land for approx. eight years before discovering women whilst I was chasing a career. That was 41 years ago; where did the time go?
