  1. After some help with a lure machine. What do people use for the cord
  2. Topics like this really help me. Thanks
  3. Owners threatening to hit or actually hitting land owners/tenents just gives the rest of us a bad name. Whilst you're on his land if he doesn't want 2 dogs on it is up to him as inconvient or frustating as it is. Sounds like you would happily cut your nose off dispite your face. What would hitting him have proved?
  4. Does any one have a good vet in Gloucestershire. We are happy with ours for general things, but would be good to know of one that we could use for more specific injuries / illnesses.
  5. Mine are both inside. I feel happier that they are safer from being stolen and my partner loves the company. My partner loves them too much really - they often share the bed. Two dogs sharing a bed is great contraception.
  6. Might be cheaper to use a GPS GPRS tracker. It is the same as the collar you are looking at, but without paying a subscription to the company. It will send you a text message as often as you want it to with longitude and latitude. You can then enter this into Google Earth if you have a 3G signal to find the location. I have a subscription version with some kids when out walking, but have found them quite unreliable. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waterproof-Global-GPS-Tracker-Tracking-Device-4-dog-child-aged-pet-kids-SOS-GSM-/251187303569?pt=UK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Other_Phones_ET&hash=i
  7. I could get my dogs to wear dentures like grandad.
  8. Thanks. Your's and BS40liam's advice really helps. This ishas been my first season and only have 2 places I can go and I think the rabbits are getting lamp shy.
  9. Just wondering how people go about finding new permissions? How do people start the conversation with landowners?
  10. Sorry, I don't mean to come across as trying to trip anyone up telling me things they shouldn't. Due to my job I need a CRB check and so I worry about a prosecution or even just the local population finding out I go lamping could be difficult. I live a rural area that is full of commuters so many around me don't agree with hunting.
  11. Thanks for advice. We have tried a PAC shock collar to try to use adversion therapy on the dogs. One of the dogs is much more sensitive than the other. When the one dag who has hunted before is chasing it makes no difference to him even when it is up at the full shock. Part of the problem is there are so many deer around us. They come down from the woods during the night into the fields to graze overnight ready to be woken up by our dogs. I have thought of using a muzzle as we have one we used during lure racing but I am worried that if they eventully did catch up with one they would get
  12. Does any one have any advice on how to stop my 2 dogs chasing deer. I am new to lamping and lurchers. We have 2 dogs, one of which we got off someone who I suspect might have hunted deer with him. I think the other dog has know learnt to chase deer off the other. They are well trained around livestock and both enjoy lamping for rabbits. I'm just worried about what would happen if my dogs caught a deer and a member of the public saw or the RSPCA or police found out.
