  3. Hi, I have had Borat for around 3 months or so. Picked him up from a display falconer down south, who said he couldnt use him cos he was flying off and killing stuff. He'll do for me i thought. Was told his flying weight was 1lb 15/3/4oz. Brought him home and let him more or less finish his moult. He was almost done anyway by the time i got him. Brought him down to flying weight, and off he went. He would go way out and up, and was very responsive to the lure, coming back from a long way as soon as it came out. Many a time, he was slipped at crows and got himself above them, but n
  4. Rubbish. If he has had a solid grounding with bop, and has a mentor/advisor close to hand, then there is no reason whatsoever that his first bird shouldnt be a Gos. Mine was, a male, imprinted by myself. Its not difficult if you do it right.
  5. Heres the scenario - You spend a lot of time making the bird good as a game hawk. Off you trot onto a grouse moor, work hard to get your dog on point, cast the falcon and off he goes. Once he gains pitch, you call him over and the second you flush......a crow decides to come over for a nosey and the falcon checks on the crow. Grouse buggers off, happy as larry, dogs pissed off, your raging, falcon catches corvid a mile away, so off you trot across the heather, day wasted. Its easier to turn a game hawk into a pursuit bird, than the other way round. I wouldnt even attempt it.
