OP if you still cant decide I picked up my ultra se yesterday and its a blisteringly accurate piece of kit. Zeroed at 30 yards with Bisley superfields and thought aye not bad but have had similar groupings with my cheap springer. Then on a whim I put a magazine of rws superdomes through her and holy $#;! 9 pellets through the same hole minus one where I got a little trigger happy. So far I am totally stoked on this rifle its amazing. http://postimage.org/image/hq5ypy6j5/

Sweet man have heard very good things about them. Few lads saying that the VC complements BSA range better or just as well as the HW but after watching a couple of ( fairly unscientific ) youtube tests I think the results speak for themselves. Will be HW or nothing mate Ordering on Thursday just need to man up and decide on caliber.

Thanks mate have been doing stacks of research before I part with wads of cash many of your videos included so thanks for that. May be swinging towards the ultra se now which will also allow budget for a silencer.
-
I'm also stuck between the ultra and scorpion se models. Would be interested to hear why so many favour the ultra am I right in thinking they are the same rifle just with different barrel lengths and air capacity ? Do you all hunt with .177 ?

The raccoon dog fur trade video and the Japanese dolphin massacres are two of the worst things I've ever seen.

I'm in the same boat mate looking at similar guns. I gave Pete at the airgun center a buzz as I live too far out in the sticks to go and feel up a load of rifles and he is pretty helpfull it all depends on your needs. I want high accuracy and not too much length plus tactical stock because its rough going down here even getting to good shooting spots and I would scratch the hell outta something as nice as a hw100. Probably going to go for the scorpion SE but giving it another week or so before committing. -
Just getting into it. Disillusioned with the food industry and the hypocrisy of most meat eaters. That and connecting with the countryside I grew up in, in a new way.

Great advice guys thank you. I have been using firework tracks on YouTube gradually increasing the volume but whenever the 'mine' type booms go off he begins to shiver. It almost seems like its certain frequencies or waves of sound that set him off but I'm no expert on sound. The starter pistol sounds like a good idea especially if he is at play when it goes off. Will put a plan of action together.

Campbeltown - Mull of Kintyre mate. Back end of nowhere but I like it that way.

Would love to try some out but local for me is at least 4 hours in the car some food for thought here tho thanks for all the input.

Damn that's pretty poor after forking out that much coin. Have heard the BSA aftersales is top notch right enough. I worded my previous response rather poorly I was looking for a comparison between the ultra SE and the scorpion as the lower price of the ultra is attractive and they appear to have similar features ... Bolt action pressure gauge etc.

Is there much difference in the se version from the scorpion other than the size and price?

This is my beautiful 6 year old male springer Merlin. He's a cracking example of the breed from good working stock but he himself has never worked and is a great companion when I'm out walking or biking. When he was 4 some idiot let off a firework on a public green very close to him and he bolted. Ever since then fireworks thunder and even my .177 really scares him to the point that he will go off and hide if I even get it out. He never batted an eyelid before. Other loud noises can bother him too but strangely some, like a backfiring car, have no effect. He is exceptionally well trained

Hey I'm Peter 31 from Argyll work as a gym instructor and lifeguard. Decided to take up hunting to distance myself from the commercial meat industry and put less money in the coffers of the supermarket giants. Starting with a PCP and hopefully moving on to a deer rifle and shotgun as funds allow. Was quite ignorant of much to do with fieldsports and had major preconceptions ( call it conditioning I suppose ) until I read Tovar Cerulli's book 'The Mindful Carnivore' and got into the River Cottage series on TV. Eyes have been well and truly opened now and I realize you can still be a nature
