    can you just sit near his pheasent feeders that are already getting robbed Hi - Yes this was my 1st thought but I haven't visited the site yet and my concern might be that if these are really close the pheasents they might prefer me to use another opition as opposed to shooting near them. Hopefully it won't be an issue and as you say its easier to use the food already there . Is there any particular time of the day when squirrels are more active feeders?

    I have had the best success by using friends of friends.............for examaple: I know several people who ride horses so have asked them to speak to the landowner for permission A mate of mine keeps a caravan at a local farm....again asked for an intro I know someone who works on a local shoot raising the birds and is having problems with Squirrels Think of anyone you know who plays golf as a club member and get them to introduce you So far I have 2 confirmed permissions and one other looking possible which will be more than enough for me.     It may be a simple mod but I like the A&M custom cylinder. It makes a massive difference to the weight of the rifle and the extra shot count is a bonus, especially for those with the 100K in .177 who would be lucky to get more than 60 shots per charge. Not mega expensive either..........its on my xmas list for the HW100K I am picking up on Sunday

    I would go to a local dealer(s) first and try some rifles out and see what feels comfortable. Then narrow it down to what you are going to be using it for......I.e if you are going to a local range / HFT then shot count may be factor for you, if its for hunting weight may be more of concern over count. Once you have a list of ones you like then start looking for a package deal second hand. I would recomend using this site, the uk air rifle forum, the airgun bbs forum and also free ads. I have found these sites all have rifles coming up with loads of extras....... Good luck!

    Just out interest have you got any tips (location, food, etc) for using the feeder technique? I been approached by a friend of mine who raises pheasents and he is having problems with squirrels damaging their feeders and nicking the food. He has asked if I can assist with a bit of pest control so I think this method would suit his site?

    Calibre choice is of course a personal thing so weigh up the pro's and con's of .22 V .177. If you think you will ever get into HFT at a local club then I would sway towards .177. If its only for hunting / plinking then its really what you prefer. I have always gone for .22 in my spring rifles but went for .177 on the HW as its only going to be for hunting and if going for headshots (which I prefer) either calibre will do the job. Remember with .22 you will need to take more account of the pellet drop when shooting over distance.....this can be learned but is less of an issue with .177. Ha

    Think it depends what you want and what you will use it for. Like you I have been looking for my first PCP for use on my 1st permission and narrowed it down to the HW100K, BSA R10 or Daystate Huntsman. Price wise (new) the BSA was cheapest but there was only around £100 difference in the range. In the end I decided to save some cash and go 2nd hand and after a lot of research and waiting have done a deal this week on a HW100k thats only a few months old......got it with a nice Hawke night eye scope, slip and sling eyes fitted for £580 so reckon I saved a good £400 on buying the same new. With
