    He's doing really well with the recall when out walking. He loves having a run in the fields but hasn't seen a rabbit yet which is a good thing. I really don't want to make the mistake of starting him on them too soon

    Firstly, forgive me as I am an amateur but I was just wondering how slip leads work? As far as I can see the bit that goes round the neck is a strip with 2 D Rings at either end. Is this right? Also, I have heard people say that they prefer using a bit of string. How does this work? Thanks in advance

    Afghan Hounds. Anyone got one? Are they any good? I see them and just think of crufts but they must have a but of go in them don't they?

    My pup is 12 weeks old and in a weeks time he will be ready for his first walk. There is a large grass meadow nearby and I would like to let him off for a run. Is this a good idea? Do you have to be careful about how long you let them run for? Pups are fragile and I don't want to let him run regularly at a young age if it potentially could cause him damage. Any advice would be appreciated.

    When it comes to rabbiting I see a lot of comments saying that whippet Bedlington Lurchers are good etc. why do so many people prefer these to just a normal whippet? Are they just as fast? Why do so many people prefer whippet crosses as opposed to a ped whippet?

    How long after the jabs would you recommend leaving it before taking him out? The vet said 2 weeks but I have also heard that a week is fine. Thanks

    Thanks everyone for your time. I'm very new to all this and this is my first sighthound. My dad has some great stories about when he had a whippet so I decided to get one for myself. Hopefully in a year or two I will be as knowledgable as you guys!

    His Dad is Lynperry Pass The Port and his mum is Steeple Blue at Chichleycote. From the family tree he looks to have good blood lines. Is anybody familiar with the aforementioned dogs/ Kennels? Thanks
