i own a bedlingtonxwhippet 9month old dog and am coming along well with training.sit,stay.jumping is all fine.iam using a dried rabbit pelt for retrieving but i can not get him to bring it back to hand without dropping it short.has anyone got any useful tips as how to stop him dropping it short?

thanks very much for your reply.he seems like he wants to play more than anything and drops it a foot or so away.kneeling down he still does the same
