  1. rabbits obviously!!! Yep rabbits indeed, to work alongside the ferrets. I am considering Hancock at the moment, but like U.L.D.A mentions, I'd be quite into finding someone who's doing some collie based lurcher to lurcher breeding to keep their working line going. Can anyone point me in the right direction of someone doing this?
  2. I'm beginning my search for a bitch to get home for around August 2013, in prep for the 2014/15 season. A long way off I know, but I want have done my home work in time for me to reserve a pup. So, I'm just after your recommendations of either breeders, or people in the know who occasionally have litters of quality proven workers. At the moment I'm thinking about a 5/8ths Grey x 3/8th Bearded Collie, or a 1/2 Grey x 1/2 Bearded Collie. Although although I'm also wondering about similar lurcher to lurcher crosses. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers
  3. Not far from the centre, along the Don. I have transport though, and I'm up for a drive
  4. Absolutely, I wouldn't do that at all. I'm just looking for someone to take me out with them, perhaps a few times. Just want to try and get to know people, other lampers and land owners. Then eventually I'd hopefully be able to my own permission.
  5. Plenty of land that's for sure. It's just having permission really, and I'm fairly new to the area as well. I need to pick up a lamp, probably will do start of the week. Only just getting back into hunting after around a 10 years break due to lots of work related travel. But now I have time and the dogs I'd like to get back out there.
  6. Yep i am indeed, reading back I could have been a bit clearer. So if there is anyone round this way that has a permission I'd be really grateful if you'd be up for taking us along one evening. Cheers

  9. Afternoon all, New here, and new to the Sheffield area. My life has finally settled down a bit which has enabled me to finally get myself a whippet and a saluki whippet X. Havn't had or worked any dogs since I was about 18, so a good 15 years ago now. I used to shoot a lot where I grew up and the westcountry, and day work my dogs. Now i have the time and the dogs I'd like to get out on a few rabbits. The whippets a 5 year old lad, good dog. Focused hunter, well behaved and well stock broken. The saluki is a younger bitch, 15mnths. Learning fast, but can be a little daft, thoughhas
