only time I hunt with others,is when they want something from me( help to get something going normally/ or keep their permission because they to scared to dig/kill something with their own dogs)not met anyone consistent enough,in and out of things, into the next...they always come out with some sort of bullshit excuses, there's a very small handful I will make the effort for because they are sound and have looked after me,expecting nothing in return....I prefer my own company these days, and do as I please
Funny that ! I have given a lot of hunting gear away tracking collars ferret finders even a bellman and flint recently with a split shovel to go with Iv gone out of my way slot for people over the years tbh been shit on a few times , but Same no constant enough anymore I can get out most days with work now I just move shit around

Iv had a few over the years , most Iv probably pissed off some way or another , the type of hunting I do helps to have thst second person and extra dogs to cover the vast ground , I probably hunt 99% time on my own now and can become hard work , how did you meet your hunting partner and how long have you need hunting together ?

I was moaning about the same things a while back even contemplating packing the terriers in all together been flat out with work since august 7 days a week an think the man above is right about foxes behaving difrent what with the warmer winters there’s defo more about just don’t seem to be using dens as much
Finding foxes to ground randomly is very challenging Iv never found many maybe this time year on while pair up comes down to a lot of earth checking , we checked a earth in the snow on a big Welsh hill lurchers we’re keen but not home walked 100 yards he was sitting in the rush bed makes no sense Iv not terriers anymore for one reason or another but Iv cold marked 4/5 this season where as Iv probably run in 15/20 and had to just leave there

Good evening Gents,
Using this platform again as I find it a great way to reach out into a pool of knowledge and great experience.
Now I don’t work my terriers to hounds here in Ireland, but more than often will find myself having a wonder about my permission and trying the terriers in some common spots. However, I have noticed I’ve drawn more blank days than good and wanted to know what those who don’t work terriers under hounds provide consistent work for their own, how do you go about your day out to guarantee an earth will be occupied and how do you feel about drawing blank days.
I worry by doing so my terriers will go flat and maybe cause a negative impact on their careers as working terriers.
Go stead,
Oshea
Or get a lurcher that will put them to ground for you

Been messed around abit lately by lads and the bitching and slagging each other off and got to me lately so decided to get out to on my own , and what a day it was even though Iv only got 1 1/2 dogs because the old bitch is struggling ! -4 getting out the van and it started from there got to a nice bit of cover and off they went 5/600 yards and young pointerx and accounted for one and was on her way back with it , from there up a gutter and off they went old bitch was up at 900 yards and young bitch was trailing her then I heard her speaking and she over took and caught the second one and at fair distance , I had one pretty much run into my leg the older dog was close by but missed it she wouldn’t of 2/3 years ago she’s always been great when she gets behind them I think I was 12/13km and the youngest bitch must of easy clocked close to 20 mile she didn’t stop !

Easy after a night lamping or digging just to chuck them in a kennel
Im opposite to that tbh , Iv a kennel set up they’ll go in there in im out and about , but after a day or night work I’d clean them off and have them in , when I bathing them I can check for anything Iv not seen injury wise and I can keep a eye on them few hours after , find they recover bed too if there on the sofa for couple hours after working , when I had terriers after a dig it be bath and crate in a warm quiet room for the rest of the day

Years ago a bloke in the village had a Borzoi, It was a nightmare with sheep, Upturned one after the other when it decided to, Strange thing is, it would go months without even looking at a sheep, Cost him a lot of money over the years he had it.
Iv seen dogs like it mate , I had bullx 10 years ago my daily walk was through 100s sheep and up into the hills , then one day it smacked one and took the rest dogs with it , next day and for couple days after nothing I didn’t trust him after that and he didn’t stay long but strange thing sheep
