A friend of mine had a first cross 20 odd years ago. Was heavy on the turn and would hunt up massively on the lamp. Bit of a nuisance really. It loved a fox, if it could catch one.  The Wire Haired Pointer dog used was a bit of an animal and a man biter.

Sounds like a great day dog 🤣

The good tend to die young. It is nice to see though when a dog that has earned retirement easily transitions from being a worker to a pampered pet.

That old bitch there has had some nasty injuries cost me thousands putting her back together

Sounds like a good tractable dog to have around 👍 I like the sound of a 1/4 gwp 3/4 grey myself, could imagine that doing everything day and night but can't imagine there's many litters being bred this way.

I only use mine for day time hunting up so half x be perfect for me just finding one , either a pup or a dog to use on my bitch

    Interesting cross.

What have lads found to be the pros with the gwp in the mix say a first cross? Would they be fast enough for bigger game?

I've seen a couple gwp imports working over the years with the guns and they are serious animals when working cover and tracking.

Iv got 1/4 pointer with touch of collie the rest grey she’s a little over half x and she is very fast ! Iv always pure here and she’s put a turn in a fox more than once and wouldn’t say she’s a fast pointer , I’m really interested in a half x think would suit me down to the ground

I Always Cwtch up for a few hrs,get some shut eye...then do the 'death run' home in the  morning traffic  ,with anything more than a few rabbits...your asking for trouble driving about far from home, any place rural these days, day or night...even worse if your got a few well worked terriers and not a permission slip in site😬🙈IMG-20191123-WA0001.jpg.d852245fb59e356264a56b638c8c2a0c.jpg

Get a van , make a company insure said van with a company , never get pulled , even sign write it just think your on a call out

Hi all, does anyone know if Gary is still breeding? I’m desperately trying to track down a Gary from wales that I brought my vizsla from in 2010 and sadly lost this year! I found the email address, vent196@aol but no reply as yet…. So just been googling and found this forum and one of Gary’s pics looks like oh could be the place 🤞🏽

    He’s passed away sorry
