    I have a friend in N.S.W who has been breeding pure and 3/4 whippet/stags for 30 years, old line hunting stock, all working, and can be seen on the job, I can give you their number if you like. Its where I get mine from got anymore pics?

    Lads, im a kiwi lad down here in New Zealand, wanting a hunting whippet but all i can find here is show stock. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Wanting a breeder with prior knowledge of exporting dogs

    this is the kind of info im lookin for! im not after other ideas of breeds thanks lads. to be honest i have x bred dogs and some of them come from a long line of dogs which include English bull and whippet among others......and i would like to bring the pure blood back to highlight their treats....but gettin a 1st x from elsewhere would save me a couple years breeding...... what i want is a smaller type dog with a lot of aditude

    yea mate we carry every thing out.......but not as good as a domestic roast pork! my butcher makes the best wildpork and pineapple sausage......

    Yep they come in all shapes and sizes and all colours too! The typical black ones are more like the captain cookers. i dont hunt with any clubs just a couple friends for the enjoyment. I havent hunted toke, and dont like the sounds of hunting through thick blackberry as the gorse i hunt is hard enough. all though the toke club is proberly the biggest club in NZ and has a release program of about $20,000 per year so i hear. some good pigs come outa that place.

    We call em Captain cookers as they were released by the man him self, and the purest strain of the animal dont get much bigger than 120lbs but due to x breeding with domestic breeds they can get to 300lbs fat as. my biggest to date was a young pig weighing 218lb dressed (gutted).

    I dont know where to start.........not many of u have any idea about Pig hunting.........one dog can catch a pig this is how we here in NZ judge a good dog if it cant catch on its own its only a mutt. A good dog can fetch up $3000 or more but not many are what they say the are!! Dogs can kill a boar and it dont take to long either if there holdin it under the armpit. in Nz hardly anyone uses breast plates and armour because there to hot for running dogs and its normally 1 hole that kills a dog.....1 in the head, 1 in the spine, or 1 in a vein and the dog bleeds out.     this is what i do! here in nz we dont bother doggin anything less. All u need is 1 good dog to find the pig then bite its ass when it trys to run, then bail. greyhound Xs r good for this, my best dog is a lab x grey and my pup is a year old, the size of a whippet and been catching boars wit my older dogs since she was 4 months old. I have a catch dog, we call them holders he's got no teeth left so he's gettin retired. Its not as mean as u think........the guy who reckons his 2 bull xs would do the trick......is right they would b perfect!!

    Sorry lads, i know all about pig huntin and the breeds used in ozzy and stuff like that. What im after is a small very quick dog with a hell of a bite on it. the terrain i hunt is very tight cover and mean sumtime [bANNED TEXT] leaving the track, cwraling under the crap. Here in NZ we like to use a dog that bails (barks, containing the pig) so size dont matter. But before the dog can bail it has to stop the pig by whacking it on the ass or nuts so something like a whippet x bull. The biggest pig i have caught was 218lbs.     Hast?? u mean fast i guess, in the open the dog will out run the pig, but in the crap if the pig gets a head start, can outrun the dogs and stay ahead long enough to escape, sometimes hours. Apparently a pig can reach top speed in three strides of approx 35kph

    Hi there, At home here in New Zealand we dont have much coursing type hunting hares and rabbits but we love hounding the local pig population. We mainly use X bred dogs of all breeds and sizes, but i have been thinking of starting my own line of dogs recently and wanted to start with a good base. My thinking of along the lines of bull X whippet. The reason being the pigs here get a fair bit of hunting pressure and can run miles in tight bush and gorse, and wanting a fast, small, hard stopping type dog. My Questions 1.
