  1. Hi all, looking for a mod for my cz 452 in .22lr, screw cut 1/2 I believe. Would prefer North Yorkshire(ish) area, but anything will be considered. Cheers Mick
  2. Evening all, took a trip to Surrey guns this afternoon and had a good chat with Peter, the owner. Very helpful and knowledgeable chap. Turns out that with .22rf on my ticket, he would have no qualms about selling me a WMR. However, after further conversation I decided to go with the LR, better to follow my FAO's recommendation and keep him on side I think, especially in these early days. So I am now the owner of a cz 452-2e in LR. Happy days. Really can't recommend Surrey guns highly enough, aimed mainly at target shooters, but plenty of rifles, shotguns and bits & bobs for hunters
  3. So, after speaking to two different FAO's today, I'm not really a great deal further forward. The first chap I spoke to didn't seem to even speak the same language as me. Ummed an ahhed a lot, didn't seem to know what .22wmr was and just kept telling me that i was permitted to own a .22 rimfire rifle, I left it with him while he conferred, and then he came back to me saying I couldn't own a HMR..... So I left it there with that one. The second seemed confident and knowledgeable, but still couldn't provide me with a definitive answer. The closest we managed to get was to establish that if I w
  4. Thanks bud, feeling a little out of my depth at the minute, truth be told. But I guess everybody has to start somewhere.. I'm a big fan of cz's, and there's a chap that my father in law knows, selling a 452-2E ZMK that I wouldn't mind taking a look at when me and the mrs go down to visit them this weekend. Then there's a Nikko Stirling Gameking 6-24x50 that's been shoved down the side of my sofa for the past few months waiting for my FAC to arrive, bit overkill maybe.. But I like to see what I'm shooting at Thank you sir. I couldn't agree more, and wouldn't dream of buying a firear
  5. Thank you sir. I couldn't agree more, and wouldn't dream of buying a firearm of any type, without being 101% sure that I'm legally allowed to own it. I just hope this hasn't tarred me with the brush of 'another idiot with no interest in doing things properly and legally'. I was simply seeking the opinions of people more knowledgeable and experienced than myself. The FAO and I discussed the possibility of both during our conversation. I stated that I was more likely to go LR, based on all the facts that have been reiterated here today, WMR came up more as a previous experience topic, r
  6. Thanks for the opinions one and all. I'm not planning on shooting much over 100yards to be honest. I don't have an issue with the .22lr, but having used both the lr and wmr previously when out shooting with friends, I found that overall I preferred the general feel of the latter. So I suppose it's just personal preference as opposed to any actual viable or sensible reason that would have me considering one. Yes I think so, just going out and buying a magnum because some geezer on a forum said it was ok, is not going to wash, I dont care what people on here think, check first, t
  7. Morning all. So, after a long old wait, my FAC finally turned up the other day, the slot I've been given simply states .22rf. Am I correct in assuming that this permits me a .22wmr? Forgive my ignorance but this is all new to me. I know there is a marked increase in ammo price, but I'm quite drawn to the idea of increased accuracy at extended range, seeing as how we currently seem to have some very skitty bunnies about at one of my permissions. Any opinions would be very much appreciated. Cheers chaps All the best Mick
  8. Hi all, So, after a 5 month wait I finally got my FAC through the post yesterday. Consequently, I thought I would test the water and see if anybody has a reliable, reasonably priced bolt action .22lr that they want to shift? Doesn't have to be a show gun, will consider anything that'll send lead in a straight line. I'm in the north yorkshire area, but willing to do a bit of traveling. Cheers All the Best Mick
  9. Hi bud, Interested in this, still available? Cheers Mick
  10. Thanks for both of those kind offers gents, turns out a friend of a friend of mine holds a certificate for a .22, lives just down the road, and is happy to take me out for a day or two on the bunnies. It's heartening that there are chaps out there like yourselves, who are willing to help out a complete stranger like that. Thank you all for the help and advice, and for making a newbie feel welcome. Cheers.
  11. Thanks for all the advice guys. The Idea of a bit of tuition never even occured to me. Al69ec, where did you go for yours if you don't mind me asking? Much obliged
  12. Thanks for the replies so far gents, apologies for the lack of information in the initial post, allow me to clear things up a little. I work as a Herdsman for a decent sized dairy man, for the past couple of years I have had permission to shoot with an air rifle over his land. He has recently okayed me to shoot with a .22lr and a shotgun (pending certification obviously). The permission is around 400 acres, split over two locations. There was a chap working with us who used to regularly shoot the land, however 6(ish) months ago he bagged himself a job heading the deer stalking for a big esta
  13. Hi all, As the topic tile suggests, I'm here to do a little bit of begging. After shooting air rifle for a number of years I decided to finally apply for my FAC. All has progressed smoothly so far, but the powers that be have decided that I need somebody in the know to take me out for a bit of 'mentoring' with a .22lr. Now I've been out with rifles in the past so I'm not completely green, (although admittedly, relatively inexperienced). But I think the plod just want to ensure that I don't shoot myself in the face, gun down any ramblers, or generally commit any other atrocities. So. In s
  14. Hi guys, Recently got back into the hunting game after 3 long years away (good shooting land is scarce in central London). So, moved back to good old North Yorkshire, bought myself a nice, shiny, new .22 air rifle, got myself a nice little permission over in Northallerton and away I went. First trip out, quick wander round to get my bearings, and after a good 20 minute stalk, bagged myself a monster of a Hare with a 40 yard shot to the back of the head. Feels good to be back. Thoroughly enjoying the forum so far, very active and a lot of top stories flying about, keep it up guys
