  1. When you say "something" are you sure that it's not pitting? John I hope its not, when i look down the barrel there is small bits of copper or whatever but it looks like small bits of dust on the surface of the barrel thanks for your help. also thanks to everyone else i'm thinking of use patches instead of the mop, the mop is real hard to keep clean and with the patches i can keep putting new ones on until its clean.
  2. hi, i have a 308 that i can't seem to get it clean. when i clean with the jag and mop there still is small bits of something still in the barrel. I also have tryed the copper solvent. maybe the mop isn't big enough but its a 30 so it should. Thankf for you help.
  3. I was told that moderators last as long as the does. With th T8 i can't open it to clean it out. thanks for that must get it checked out.
  4. i'am not sure what you mean, all i know is that it's about 1/2 inch thread. does this answer you question?
  5. I have a second hand T 8 moderator that is fitted to .308 styer. The reason for sale is that the styer is light rifle but the T 8 is to heavy and makes it of balance. It weight is 650 grams. It came fitted to the styer when i bought it and the rifle was about 5 years old and so was the moderator, there is bits of rust a scratchs but its not brand new. I'am told there about £200 new some i would swap with something of the same value new or second hand. I would be looking for £150.00 to sell it. I have tryed to upload some pictures but there to big to upload so i can send
  6. I have .22 which i lamp foxes with and i never have any problems with it. I have shoot foxes at 50 to yards and have killed them. The rifle i use is a very cheap marlin .22

  11. Tryed calling a sika stag this evening but he never moved at all. i could see about 200 yards away and i'm sure he didn't see me. I was using a electric caller. Anyone called one in before.
  12. Kev, does the bolt slide back and forward nicely, and close ok on an empty chamber? If so you may well have a tight chamber. Are you running home loads, and if so were they fired from a different rifle? The bolt being tight to close is a sign that the round is very tight in the chamber (or possibly the OAL is too long and the bullet is being forced into the rifling by the bolt). It's something to keep an eye on as a very tight chamber can cause increased peak pressures, so watch out for signs of overpressure on the cases. Probably teaching grandma to suck eggs, but worth checking if in doubt.
  13. I use a styer scout 308, i'm told it will last for ages if its looked after. I like it because it lighter than most other 308's and it has a shorter barrel which is handy for stalking in woodlands. It is so accurate to. It has buit in bipod and 2 magazines aswell. The bolt is nice but a bit stiff when locking in bullet.
  14. ....don't worry about the nit picky comments, some people rather than answer your question would rather try to be-little you. If you are just starting out then I would recommend you get a copy of Robert Bucknells book 'Foxing with Lamp & Rifle' it is very informative and you will find it very useful and you can easily re-sell it and get some money back afterwards. If by 'best' you mean 'easiest' then in my opinion it would be this time of year when this years cubs are easily lamped and called in. Also as soon as any crop field has been harvested the foxes will be there that night

  16. Not to sure, i would think it would be simple, when the rifle has the same calibre to. to change the subject i have a marlin too what to you think of them. hello kevmag. i find the marlin a good enough rifle but sense rabbits and magpies is my main quarry i think a .22 would be better and cheaper in the long run. but on saying that the marlin is a strong and sturdy rifle. but ammo at 21 euro a box its a bit steep. atb. bib That's dear for bullets, i can get them for 10.00 sterling for 50 bullets. Can you buy bullets in the south if you have a northern licence?
