  1. morning gareth i had one in the 80,s first cross dog which made 221/2" was first class on rabbits ferreting / lamping had to be on top of the hare to catch it but a very trainable dog i had him 14 years i would tend to go for collie x whippet then back to whippet for more speed as to the collie in it yes they do take the huff if you shout at them but good honest dogs

  2. ok borderscot i see where your coming from gritted teeth was a bit over the top but was trying to get my point across will try a softly softly approach with harsh words only when needed a different a tack i think will step up training in a more remote place so there are no distractions from others/dogs always willing to take advice from more learned dog men thanks

  3. here,s the scene as above with 1/2 whippet added 6 months now 23" tts is ok hunting up but is constantly scanning the scene for other dogs so i,ve got to be on my toes it,s a bitch the times i dont see the other dog she,s off playing with it then when it,s had enough and lies down she barks at it for more will not come back so muggins has to go and seek her and try and get her back on a leash i,ve give her a good smacking then takes the huff cant seem to get through to her i know the collie and saluki is working against me but have no older dog to help me out do you think keeping her on a extenable lead for a while the penny might drop dont feel like letting her off because of the carry on typing this through gritted teeth

  4. hello mate i am training on a 3/4 collie grey at the moment she went through the same thing all i did was keep cool and ride it out, i call it the kevin and perry stage, 3 months it took now she is sound bringing back to hand skin dummies perfect recall keep the faith bro, i cant wait for the lamping season to try her out, dont get hot headed it just makes it worse the dog will think its a game and do it more, ive seen people tell the dog off when they get it back this is most peoples mistake never no matter what dont bollock it when it returns, go to it to bollock it thats if you can catch it!!! bloody pups good luck
