Anyone use spaniels alongside lurchers, now or years gone by?
How did they work different game rabbit/hare/deer/fox? And how did they get on as a team?
Pictures most welcome

Looking at getting 2-4 chickens for eggs. Got a decent sized grass garden for them to roam and looking at a coop for night time. Looking for something that will be quiet and good layers. Any ideas? Cheers folks

Lost my lurcher bitch last week, only young at 5 1/2 years old. found out she had lymphoma (cancer) last month and she really went down hill quickly, lost loads of weight and had lumps appearing all over her body as well as passing blood! Last Friday she was at her worst she was refusing food and anything she ate was thrown up. She wasn't comfortable and was clearly her time, so the vet was called out and she was laid to rest! Less than a week before Christmas, and just half way into our season and leaving me without a dog to run! She worked her heart out for me and was truly something special! The good ones do go too soon! RIP Meg

Had it with a lurcher, his leg was never the same again! Couldn't manage a night long hard nights graft! May be different with a spaniel compared to a running dog though

Anyone ever had any experiences with canine lymphoma? Just been told after a fair few tests and scans my bitch has it. I'm fairly gutted, to say the least as the dog is apart of the family and has worked her heart out for me over the past 6 years! Vets said chemotherapy is an option but won't cure anything, only prolong the inevitable. Heads all over the place!

One site moved on a few days ago they were asking about my bitch a couple of weeks ago and if she was for sale, luckily they didn't get her yesterday aswell! Mates have been down another site but no luck.

Belongs to a good friend of mine, they've also looked after my dog and housed for me whilst I've been away with work

Seen a lad hit by both roe and fallow, tried to jump over the fallow but it hit him on the lower legs and flipped him. He couldn't walk for a week. ?

I personally think lurchers should be well up there in the price ranges .... Pups from well named dam and sire should be out of % even 90% of people's price bracket this way you don't have the numptys buying them
Also a well worked lurcher has had far much more put into them than any chihuahua / pug / British bulldog / french bulldog all with price brackets of 500 - 2000 so if you put the lurcher at the price of the time put into them and getting the bitch and dog upto a standard of which is worthy breeding from then them pups should be priced from 1200 - 2000
I can see where you're coming from with regards to idiots picking dogs up just because they're cheap, however i do have to disagree at the same time. Some of the best dog men I know have little in the way of money.

Anyone studied at the RAU? Considering heading back into education next year and the ' Bsc (Hons) Applied Farm Management' undergraduate degree is looking appealing at the moment.

The best dog I ever owned was a 28tts brindle dog of this breeding. Never let me down, would do it all and always left the field smiling with a boot full of game. Was so switched on around cover an worked well with the bushing pack. Had a serious hatred towards foxes, loved running them and could smell them from a mile away. Despite his size he could easily scoop up rabbits, Could take hares in the day and loved the deer. The dog died following his quarry into a wood.

surprised you need a bushing dog with them, that pups litter brother is like a spaniel if he smells something in cover and has the nose of a hound
