  1. everyone has different standards and views. if your dog reaches your standards and you are happy with it thats all that matters.the dog only has to please you whatever your standards are not the rest of the world.

    Totally agree mate

spot on as long as the owner is pleased with his dog that all that counts

how can this be that if your dog is good in your eyes its a goodn we all know this is bull shit i agree people have different standards but a goodn is good in others eyes not your own biased eyes go out with enough people and you will soon know if its any good cause they will tell you so if not they will tell you its shit to many of these so called goodns are getting bred out of utter crap atb ks

  2. im from a council estate and i dont give a f**k what anyone else thought or thinks i give my dogs as much as i can give them.when i was younger there was a load of lads on our estate that had running dogs n terriers so you was never short of going out with folk and if you ever needed a hand or got in a bit of bother digging help was allways on hand as we got older some of the lads went into the shooting but i was allways the dogs now when your young and keen for the dogs you end up getting a bit of a name with the local land owners and farmers as i was out all the time over the fields (this was the time i prob have the best running dog i will ever have as we were together 24/7 rip solo)i used to go beating for a fair few years untill my name started cropping up and some of the shooters were to tell you the truth c*nts i think there is a bit of they think they are better than the dog lads especially in some of these big shoots were concerned anyway snidey comments were made no matter how much you try and explain that you are not interested in there game birds and that all i ever want is to just run my dogs the local farms and land owners that were allways on my case i now have permission on (i think really that they just got sick of chaseing me and realised that i was in it for the long haul and i never caused damage and allways respected there livestock)and are friends and have dug with them i do feel sorry for some of the young lads now as it was hard to go out then without getting bothered cause they just see a young lad of a council estate in there fields they just think the worst there is good and bad with everyone but you have to scratch the surface dont get me wrong some of the farmers and landowners prob still think am a council estate c**t do i give a f**k no we carnt get on with everyone seen one lad that i grew up with at a game fair with some of his shooting buddies that have been shooting since we were young that i had runnings with years ago said hey up and tried to speak to him wouldnt even speak told him there and then what i thought of him people change and so do opinions of people just be true to yourself and f**k what anyone else thinks ive got some good lads that i go out with now and have for years but its allways good to meet other like minded lads atb ks

  3. i tell you what it is mate they see there dogs as fluffy cuddly pets that wouldnt hurt a thing when in reallity its a dog that can do a lot of damage it is only from hunting n working with dogs that you realise what these dogs are capable of some of these people are stupid and simply havnt got a clue atb ks

  4. my mate had one reared from a cub it was tame enough with them it free run of the garden and his garden backed onto the fields if someone strange came round it would hide behind something and peep from behind watching them as it got older it started going over the fields but always came back but the time it came back got longer n longer in the end we think it just went back wild either that or got lamped or something atb ks

  6. i think if you plan to breed you should aim to better your stock everytime you breed some people it has taken them a life time and they still didnt get what they originally aimed for so for those that have a picture in there mind of what they want good look and all the best cause it carnt be done over night atb biza

  7. it sounds like a ulceration of the eye a little scratch on the cornea or dirt been digging twenty odd years never had this happen until just before xmas had two digs to two different dogs on the same patch of land it was dark ash and it did exact what your describing its was a slow process to get them back to normal and i bath my dogs everytime after they been out like i said never seen it before atb biza

  8. as scent said someone elses piss and before the test keep it under your arm pit so it go to body temp then just tip it in when in toilet there not going to watch and make sure it comes out your nob atb ks

  9. have read this with great interest i have had and seen a few grey hounds run but they were above three years old and where stuck in there ways and habits.anyway everyone of here knows stewie and a few months back i had a 18 month grey bitch off of him.now when i first started taking the bitch out she was ignorant when ran on lamp for first time she caught a big rabb.i kept taking the bitch and her speed is blistering and she was doing all the things you would expect a grey and a YOUNG RUNNING dog to do overshooting on turns when running buy the way this bitch has retrieved everything she has caught and been able to carry back.at the start her speed was causeing her problems and she had a few knocks but after keep putting stuff in front of her she has started to adapt and she catches rabbits with ease and as for game this bitch will have ago at anything and has been on everything and she is no big bullx all i ask of her is that she TRYS 100% and no one could say that she dont try very good to watch not bad wind plenty of guts GOD LOVES A TRIER.now am not saying all of them are like this and she could get killed tommorrow(the same as any running or working dog)but i think if gotten from a young age as possible and have physically sound parents then there not as brain dead as people think i am glad i took a gamble on her and when lamping sometimes my heart is in my mouth but as said its early days i think they adapt there running just the same as any other running dog atb ks

Well written mate, good read that. I don't know what your terrain is like, my fear with greyhounds is fences, what is she like with them?

when first had her she wouldnt try to jump i kept her on lead and kept going over a low fence backwards and forwards over and over again gradually increasing the height she can jump when she has to but if can find another way she will.as for fences when shes running she has had a couple of knocks but she is learning i have took her digging a fair few times and she as surprised us learning quickly as where to grab things a character and demeaner are great and she is pleisure to have with me in the field her feet so far have been good but she isnt really heavy but stands at 26 to 27 ats she got a good strike on her as she has caught plenty out in open not near the hedges and has had a fair few shot and retrieved reds which she took to like a duck to water to see her eat the ground up so quickly is pure adrenalin to watch i noticed a big inprovement on running nimble quarry as she was just running to start off with but to watch her now on the lamp and in day she is trying to read her target there is a difference now am not saying greyhounds are the best everyone should get one but what i am saying is get a decent one and they will open many a dog mans eyes atb biza

  11. i would say that this dog and the dog in the forley thread are under weight but because this dog is not well known and ran in coursing camps everyones opening there mouths yet no one did on the other thread makes me laugh dont want to upset these big names lick lick lick atb ks

  12. one lost to ground at 7 months (not by me),the one i kept got run over,a dog i still see regularly has killed a few foxes over the last few weeks (still a bit on the young side for my liking).Theres others of them im hoping to hear from next season-another bitch that a friend has came out like a pure glen but seems more immature than her littermates at this stage.I was surprised how good the noses have come on them.

a bit of bad luck there mate you will find out what you got this time next year then really keep us posted.how old are they at moment only reason asking is one of my mates got a glen x lakies bitch from ireland shes ugly as sin but graft she a proper good sensible bitch that just will not give up dont get smashed just gets the job done and a nose that will find anywhere atb ks

  13. Sh*t line of bull x. Seen to many fail. Look the part that's about it.

i will second that looked the biz big headed dog good atheletic body but when the dog wasnt having it all his own way and the going got tough he was lacking a shame really cause he was a picture to look at atb biza

  14. do yourself a favor and breed off dogs you have tried and tested yourself, its not rocket science

that just wont always work tho will it???

if you know a dog bred right an worked well why not use it????????????????

id rather use a tightly bred well worked dog that somebody else owned, than a scatter bred dog that does same jobs that i owned.................
