  1. Great post John! Won't be long and you'll have your own TV show!
  2. We lose the odd rod here and there while ice fishing for pike but that's a different game all together. Rod is sitting right over the hole. If it's a good fish and it hits hard, you'd better be standing close by. Never been lucky enough to get one back though! As as side note, i saw a guy catch a 12lb carp through the ice this winter. Very rare to see this, and he wasn't fishing for carp but it was interesting. He thought he'd hooked a monster pike. ended up drilling two more holes overlapping his original hole in order to land it.
  3. That's an awsome looking buck. We'd call that a nontypical over here in Canada. What do you guys call them?
  4. Good read! Just goes to show, now matter how good you can shoot and how much experience you have, things don't always go as planned. The good thing is you were able to finish the job. Good work!
  5. Excellent write up! That's what the sport is all about. Keep up the good work.
  6. Think of it like this. If you kill a few of them you'll actually be doing them a favor by putting that fear of the predator back in them. It's not natural for them to be so tame and if you don't "help" them with that, somone else will soon capitalise on the situation. Or if it's not sporting enough for you why not take a beginner out for his or her first outing. It should be a great place to introduce a newcomer to the sport.
  7. Nice pic! The deer don't look much bigger than your dog. Keep up the good work.
  8. The nose is definatley missing and i've never seen predators or scavengers eat noses before so it might have been shot. There is no way of telling for sure though. It could have just been a bad hit and the stalker couldn't find the deer. Could have been shot in the face on purpose and left to rot. I guess we'll never really know but i'd keep an eye open in the area and if you start to find more carcasses in the same condition it might be pointing to a poacher problem.
  9. Give this guy a call. I've been out with him once and going again beginning of may. I'm sure there's other guys around that offer the same services as him too. I found him to be excellent and really affordable. http://www.ayrstalk.co.uk/ You'll probably have to copy and paste the link to your browser.
  10. Nice video. Too bad the sun was in your face but nice how the one walked around out of the sun so we could have a better look!
  11. I've got openings available for this summers bear hunt in Ontario Canada. Season starts Aug. 15 and we'll run hunts into Sept. I'll customize a hunt for you if required. I can supply everything including weapon, cabin, boat and fishing gear. Give me a call or pm me if you want to find out more.
