  1. Got an Energiser headtorch in my stocking for Christmas. Wore it slightly off centre last night with the air rifle and it worked on some rabbits under the 30 yard mark. Anybody else out there tried it? I was quite impressed!
  2. Im a big fan of the TX200! Amazing gun. Picked up a Theoben Evolution this week. Pretty good too. Never shot a Fenman though. They all do the same thing but as someone else pointed out in the thread its how it feels to you thats important. The stuff your shooting wont take much notice!T
  3. Reason being I have a few questions and would like sone local info to point me in the right direction! Hope someone can help! Tim.
  4. Right then, things that work for me are the usual worms and maggots, small aglia longe spinners, colour dependant on water colour. But two things that I use fairly often with great results are trotting a trout fly downstream with a normal spinning/bait rod and also dyed red sweetcorn. The fly I use is called a "Coch Y Bonddu". Its a small welsh pattern, but Black Gnats have worked on my river too. Just freelining it and letting the water do the work. The idea with sweetcorn is that they are not far off the same colour as trout eggs, and brown trout eat the eggs of other trout. An old poacher sh
  5. Picking up a Theoben Evolution air rifle off my mate tomorrow. Its a .22. Anybody else use one? I have always been a Massive fan of The Air Arms TX200 but for the price im having it I dont think I can turn it down. Anybody Know how these compare to say a TX200 or a HW77/97? Never used a Bushnell scope either so any info greatly appreciated. T
  6. Lanber are great! I have an old one and it suits me fine! Mines a 28 inch multichoke too.
  7. Thats given me plenty to think about when I go looking! Thanks. Tim
  8. Thanks for the info guys. Where can I get the desert net from? Are the jack pyke nets any good?they seem fairly priced. Thanks again, Tim.
  9. Hi guys, about to purchase some gear for hide building. Would a Camo tarpaulin be ok or would netting be better? Reason being is that I use camo tarp for my bushcrafting stuff and would be silly to own both if not really necessary. Any thoughts and info would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tim.
  10. Hi,this has probably been covered before but my computer is very slow and is struggling with the search. Through all my air rifle shooting I always used scopes that were rated 3-9-40 for example, but for .22 rifles people seem to use scopes like a 4x40 as well as the 3-9-40 or something similar. I am about to purchase a CZ 452 Varmint off a friend and am doing my homeowrk as to what scope to save up for now. Hope someone can explain why the difference in the scope power/magnification etc may be of importance! Thanks, Tim.
  11. I shot some out of a 12 bore in France a few years back but I think you can only get them FAC in this country. I may be wrong. I was told that you have to have a good enough reason for your FEO to get them granted. Someone will know more than me though. On the continent they use them for Boar and Deer. T
  12. Nothing wrong with the Franchi's at all! I know a few people that swear by them. My fave semi auto's though are the Beretta 303's and the Beretta Teknys. Browning do some really good ones too that go for around the 3-400 mark. Browning B and A500 ( Think thats the correct models). If your going to use it for wildfowling at some point you dont want to be spendind big bucks if your going to be by the salt all day either! Good luck, Tim.
  13. I know Craig Y Nos well. Congratulations on getting married soon too. Watch out for the Ghosts there mind. Meant to be haunted...... Seriously though guys, thanks for the welcome. T
  14. Shwd Mai! Im from the Ammanford area. At the bottom end of the Beacons. Few Valleys down from you by the looks of it buddy. Tim.
  15. The Frost Mora knives are great for the money. Opinel Knives are also really, really good. I use a Helle Fjellkniven myself. Around the £70 mark though. I use it for everything. Gutting and preparing of fish and game in the field and kitchen and also all my bushcrafting. Try and get into a shop and get a feel for a few. It needs to feel right in your hand! Tim.
  16. First one! I have just purchased a Lanber 12 bore over and under! The chap I had it off was using it for wildfowling. The metal work needs some work so just wondered what products you guys reccomend for getting the rust off and re blueing. Any hints and tips greatly apreciated. Never done it before so it will be a learning curve! Next question! I will be getting myself a .22 LR over the coming months. I have shot a few in the past but always got on well the the CZ 425 American model. I know these things can be quite personal but how do they rate againt more expensive guns like Sako and Remingt
  17. Hi guys, just saying a quick hello from Snowy South wales! This forum looks the business! I have always been a game fisherman and alway hunted with an air rifle. Just got myself a new shotgun after too much time away from one and just thought I would come on here to get some info on certain things. Look forward to some of you guys answering my questions in the future. Diolch, Tim.
