  1. I don't think it would take much learning with these clever sods, they pick up anything just from watching and listening.  When I started Ozz lamping I'd already had the summer drilling the hand signals into him, palm of my hand means "stop" , hand flat meant "lie down" , a bit over the top for someone that doesn't poach but I like to see their brains work. Well the first few nights I can't tell you the frustration I had when Ozz, for no reason would stop (without me knowing) would stop and stay while all the time I'd be walking on ! I'd get a hundred yards or so, flick the lamp on and the retard would be where I last had a look. It wasn't for a few weeks that I realised he thought the lamp going down by my side in my hand was the palm open and he'd got to sit and stay 😂

I could tell you a few stories about him being on the ball but I don't want to steal the thread, I look forward to hearing the stories of your youngster.

  2. One of the first cross litter, I was lucky enough to be given him as a pup, very intelligent,  very game, very loyal,  if I could of put a list together to get my perfect dog I couldn't of hoped to get it better.

There’s some collie and greyhound in there somewhere and no definitely don’t want to bite people been well socialised since I got him at 9 weeks old great round livestock and people been at work with me since I got him. Atb

My dog was a rotten b*****d with any stranger up until he was about 15-18 months old.  He was bought up in a family,  he was around kids and cattle from day one but he wouldn't wear strangers.

Hope he works out for you mate, he'll look a different dog once he shapes up.........saying that I'm still carrying my puppy fat at 55 😂

Putanges, push them right down the tube as far as possible, make sure tube has been cleaned out with a spoon. I make my own triggers for putanges, very kittle on rusty traps, good rusty trap and trigger has little chance of false firing.  i make different sizes for different sized tubes, in my opinion you want the jaws of the trap hugging the tube wall, i have the triggers to do that. the shape also stops any tip backs of the trigger without firing, since i started making these a few years back my catch ratio with putanges has gone right up. i like the pipe trap as well for spooky moles and has been previously said move the to a different location.

I always use the triggers on their side, earth is easy enough to move to make sure it's a perfect fit. You're spot on with the snug fit,  it definitely helps.

You are right Brother,....some dogs , although small in stature, seemed to be veritable giants, in the hunting field....?

Beautiful that Phil, I'd be happy with something of that stamp from this mating.  Like I said, I'm not a lurcher man, never really have been, terriers stole my heart many years ago. I do appreciate the company of a lurcher and without starting another tit for tat load of nonsense on here I just love the old type that I saw as a kid

Dilly.... What you mean, finally got round to measuring him he's 23-24...  not sure what the tape said mate lol

But I know what you mean about it never mattered before.

Keep us updated mate with how the bitch is getting on / if she's took

I used to bother when I was a snot nosed kid, just something I don't really care about anymore.  I always thought he was bigger than he actually is.

Like I said before, should make proper uns. All the best mate

I could be off but it won't be by much, I'm not a lurcher man in any way shape or form, I haven't measured a lurcher for decades, he just suits me.

He'd be 25, no idea what the bitch is, roughly 27-28, she's my lads bitch, she's a coursing bitch imported from Ireland.
