Few pics of the racing at shirebrook today, met Turbotyke with the lurchers.. cracking pair of dogs, that young red dog going to be right animal by the looks of things, didnt manage to get any pics of him racing , sorry, my fault. Also met Hunters Glory off here with the Whippets.. the brindle dog showing the others how its done!
Camera wise i'm only really a happy snapper..still got plenty to learn.. especially on the processing side of things, but when asked by someone to photograph their dog in a race i'll try my best!.. a really dull day, crap for taking photos with high shutter speeds, had ISO up to 2500! at one point.. anyway, excuses out of the way..
few of TurboTykes dogs..
If you and your fella want a run out one day to get some propper pics.. give me a shout,
the boys are looking well, good pics.

iv never had a case of fps and
this i think is why....
i give 1 dose of synolux or similar anti-biotics
1 week before mateing and another 1 week before whelping,
keep the pups as warm as possible without over heating for the first 2 weeks of life
as far as i know this has worked for me.
The first sign of pfs is a drop in weight, i weigh my pups at birth and every day
till older than 2 weeks.
sorry for your loss mate!

mum stopped producing milk at 3 weeks so had to be bottle feed for two and hes drinkin and eating no probs so pup was more than ready to leave or i wouldnae of took him
its not just about the feeding mate, pups are still learing from the dam at that age.
After breeding several litters over the years and seeing pups with the dam i personal wouldnt let them go
untill at least 8 weeks old even though mine are weaned off the dam by 5 weeks. But if looked after properly you do get a better bond haveing them young. All the best with the puppy i do have a soft spot for a nice rotty
-
i would of said 6 weeks is a bit young to be coming away from the bitch but maybe thats just me, good luck with him .
i completely agree!at 6 weeks they still need the dam, less than 8 weeks is a no no for me they've got to a least be old enough for vaccines
but that is a lovely rotty bless

my fella has been checking out the local news and came across some chilling news.
Theres a mistery illness in CLUMBER PARK, NOTTINGHAM and it has been killing dogs since last year, 8 dogs died last year of this vomiting and diarrhoea illness and more have died recently of the same thing, its not poisioning. A mans dog dropped dead when he got home after walking in the area.
Anybody from the area beware if you excercise your dogs in or around the sherwood forrest area.

nice pups all the best with them

Supermarket own brand anti histamines are only a quid or so for a pack, bollocks to paying 3 or 4 quid for piriton or benadryl
are they safe to use in dogs? theres certain anti-histamines you shouldnt give a dog. check the active ingrediant if its same as piriton or benadryl its safe to use and will save you a few quid.
my vet gave me 50 prednisolone tablets for £2.00 so i use them now for allergic reactions works alot quicker than anti-H and reduces the swelling really quickly.

Yep they are fine for the dog
just makeing sure lol. I can get cheap prednisolone if anyones intrested!
-
those pups are stunning they look very happy and healthy you've done an excellent job rearing them atb

If you can call a dog off quarry in full flight you must be good or your dog is a jacker.
Hope your dog is fine. I don't get when cat owners allow their animals out and about and then are surprised when something happens to them.
my dogs aint no jackers and i dont claim to be better than anyone elce! and yes i can call my dogs 2 x lurchers off cats otherwise id be fkd when i go on alot of the farms i go on.
i put alot of time and effort into my dogs to make sure they are 100% capable of doing what i want, when i tell them. whats wrong with that?
iv spoken to B-H and explained to him that i wasnt takeing the piss sometimes i just come across the wrong way and he is fine with that! i guenuinly wanted to know who includes cats when stock breaking??
sorry for messing up the topic for you B-H and im glad your dog is on the mend.

any idea what brand of vaccine they used?
to date the only vaccines iv ever had trouble with
was EURIAN.
good luck with finding the right dog and all the best
for the future.
So sorry to hear that. And hope you soon find another dog to join your family.
Strangely, our 14 week old pup had a bad reaction to her first vaccine and that was Eurian. She was quite ill, but is fine now. She had her second jab 10 days ago and although a bit off-colour for 24 hrs,she didn't have the same bad reaction again.
Interesting thread.
it made 3 out of our 4 pups ill for a few days and the same 3 went on to catch parvo. i use Nobivac now and not had a problem so far.
Ooooh, that's a bit worrying...
sorry i didnt mean to worry you, its not uncommon for pups to be off colour for a day or 2 after jabs
whatever the brand. i think mine where just unlucky and 1 of them was fine on Eurican. it was a nasty
strain of parvo and we do live in a hotspot. so dont worry yourself too much. atb mrs A.R.D

my dog lives with cats and they take the mic out of him but he would kill any outside in a second
well my dogs must be well behaved then. i just call them off and they come back not saying they wouldnt kill one given half a chance but there recall is bang on.
mrs A he never asked that now did he he said its happened and if anyone else has had it happen to there dogs you werent there so dont pass judgement
best of luck with the dog biza
how is what i said passing judgement??
"it aint the cats fault dont you include cats when stock breaking?"
oops my bad!
i crossed the road with both dogs on leads when crossed i was getting over a fence to get in a field i was passing the lead through the fence when the dog scented the cat in the bottom of the hedge unseen by me thats how the dog got after the cat and my dogs are stock trained ive had running dogs and terriers for twenty odd years and this was just one of those things so before jumping the gun get your facts right all i was asking for was a bit info or advice that would aid my dogs recovery off people this had happened to and to all the people that have pm me thanks alot evrything took on board and greatly appreciated atb biza
i didnt ask if they where stock trained i asked whether you included cats. fek me anyone would think i said you diliberatly slipped the dog on the cat, WHEN DID I SAY THAT?. It was an odvious accident and i never questioned your ability with dogs!
