  3. mornin pal. there are a few different makes of these rifles lion as you have westlake and another that i cant rember at the min. all of witch the spring will come out without much trouble. stock off then theres a pin on the rear of the rifle from left to right. hold the gun down firmly and get a mate to knock the pin through,as this comes out the spring will want to fly out under its tension hench the hold it down. and do hold that sucker down. the rest is simpel take note of how it all comes out and replace in that orer, with your exsperiance you will be fine mate there ant much to them,

  6. Morning everyone, I have just dug my old air rifle out from under the stairs and decided to give it a little bit of TLC while I look for a new one, It is a lion brand chinese air rifle http://www.reviewcentre.com/review190013.html I have removed the stock and sanded down, just needs varnishing/painting and removed all of the RUST from the barrel and main body of the rifle, I was considering removing the spring and giving it a clean and a good oil. 2 questions: 1, what paint should I use on the barrel and main body of the gun? 2, Is it advisable for a beginner to start removing sp
  7. in that case i will definately wait, I wasnt really too bothered as having alot of fun just doing the obedience training, but will take your advice on this one, better safe than sorry n all that.
  8. nice one! going to order that now! they're awesome aren't they!! (springers) he's my first one as always had terriers (patterdales, borders ect) but really coming along nicely with the obedience n stuff. hes still a bit of a pussy when the hoover or the lawnmower is on though! goes and hides under the bed!
  9. i dont think it is. I go to the game quite often and was a season ticket holder at OT until a couple of years ago and the police presence is so high that opposing fans dont even get near each other. Especially when liverpool come to town!! I think its more prominent in lower leagues were the police presence isnt as high due to cost. you always get a few rucks but that to be expected! nbo were near the level it was in the 70s and 80s though
  10. Well just to rough shoot and for him to retrieve. That would be ideal, I have been reading a good book by James Douglas which gives lots of good pointers. thanks for the replies guys MOST BOOKS WILL GIVE GENERAL HINTS AND TIPS BUT JAMES DOUGLAS AS FAR AS I KNOW WAS'NT A SPANIEL MAN BETTER TO GET A BOOK WRITEN BY A GUY WHO WORKS WITH SPANIELS.Rough shooting is great when you have a good working spaniel with you to rough shoot is to hunt your quary the best way there is a.t.b THATS a nice little dog you have. yeah i think he is just gundogs in general, with have a look on amazon for
  11. will do! hopefully i'll be uploading a few pics soon!!! atb
  12. lol shoot it 4 times and if its still alive RUN AWAY!!! atb gary haha if it takes me 4 shots to drop a rabbit I think i'll be selling the gun and buying a terrier! thanks for the replies lads, got more info in these few posts than i have done reading countless reviews and write ups, just need to pick a rifle now!!! decisions decisions!! :notworthy:
  13. also 177 or 22? apologies again if this is an obvious question!!
  14. cheers mate, i can get the raider for £249 (2 shot model) and can use a mates bottle for a month or so till i get one so that wont be a problem, just seems a little to good to be true owning a pcp, my mates is almost silent, as you say no recoil and dont have to cock the gun for every shot so there must be some drawbacks otherwise everyone would use pcp wouldnt they? Sorry if Im missing obvious advantages/disadvantages but im new to this game!!
  15. Morning everyone! hope youve all had a good bank holiday! I have looked around the forum and cant find this question anywere else, *(apologies if this topic has already been covered) I have an old spring air rifle that has been in the house for 20 years and is getting a bit past it now so I am looking at getting another and start shooting seriously. I will be shooting any vermin ( rats, rabbits, magpies, woody's ect) and will be spending around £250 ish. My mate has just bought a Webley Raider 10 shot and this seems a good rifle but this has raised the question, Do I want a pcp or

  18. Morning everyone, I am new to this forum and relatively new to the country sports game (used to go rabbiting/ratting/ferreting with my dad but that was about 15 years ago) i have had ole` my english springer for 3 months, hes about 5 months old and I want to train him to hunt/flush rabbits by scent. but i need advice so here are my options. My dad has 3 border terriers that will chase rabbits and catch them but they are a bit wild when they are off the lead, ie barking/ wont heel, wont retrieve so not sure whether to introduce my dog to these while they are working in case he picks up bad
