  1. Some folks have had problems getting good groups with their CZ 452 Varmints maybe due to that model only having one action screw. I have one in .22 WMR and love it.

    Not heard that before......

Another reason NOT to buy the Varmint is it will not shoot any better than a light barrel in the field...so why bother with the extra weight? If you want to lug around a heavy gun then fine, but no need from a shooting accuracy point of view, but some like heavy barrel, not me though!

Go to rimfirecentral.com all the info you could ever want about CZ rimfires. There are loads of guys shooting well under 1 MOA with their Varmints. But that is probably typical of most CZ rimfires. The Varmint isn't much heavier than other CZ rimfires though. The heavy barrel really isn't all that stout and it is in a carbine length. I carry mine for hours on end in our thick Texas woods with no fatigue at all. Personally I would like a 452 FS. Can you guys get Savage rifles over there?

  2. Hi

Just my tuppence worth, CZ style 16" barrel it's all you want, (NOT VARMINT) with a nickel plated barrel and £12 brookes trigger kit, and spend the rest of the money on glass, I saw one go S/H for £250, that's plenty left over for a descent scope.

I've got a CZ .17 hmr with Meopta fixed 8 mag x 50 and can drop rabbits, crows and magpies at 150 yards easily, what more do you want? The sako is possibly a better made barrel and certainly trigger, but i don't imho think it outshoots the CZ, and doesn't warrant the difference in price unless you want the other barrel options, rather than a dedicated rifle.

Why would you not go for the varmint barrel, I have used the heavier barrel a lot and I find the heavier barrel helps keep the gun steady on long range shots.

Why would you not choose the varmint barrel?

  3. Hello all from the Texas Republic. I do a fair amount of hog hunting with my jagdterriers. Not as much as I would like due to work schedule, but a few times a month at least. We get on the occassional nutria, racoon, assorted small game, as well. Anyway, I enjoy ya'lls site. Keep up the good fight and hold onto what freedoms you have left.
