  1. Lack of training? Maybe. Maybe we do things differently then you. Look sir, the last thing you want a catch dog doing is letting go of a hog while you're trying to tie it, flip it, or otherwise hold it down. You don't want that dog letting go under any circumstances or you'll likely end up getting cut badly. Everybody I know uses break sticks for their catch dogs. Men that have been in this game their whole lives and are far older than me use break sticks. I learn from from the. Guess we aren't proper dog men. But we do catch hogs.
  2. Break sticks are considered a needed tool over here running hogs. Nothing fancy. Just a shaved down piece of plastic really. Sean
  3. On the original topic, what would anyone hope to gain by crossing in dogo? GOOD working dogos aren't all that easy to find here where a lot of people are actively hunting them and trying to breed good dogs. Wouldn't it be next to impossible to find proven stock where ya'll are? I'm not trying to be an @ss. I'm really asking because I am totally ignorant of your situation. Sean
  4. Yes I would agree that statement is pretty much true. At least where I live. In other countires and locales in the US people may prefer other dogs for catch dogs. But the most common type of catch dog here is a pit. And those that hunt with a pit use them as a lead in catch dog. Other types of catch dogs ARE used but it comes down to what's effective for that person's style of hunting, habits of the pigs in the area, terrain, and really what that person likes. My hunting buddy uses only dogos. Because that's what he LIKES. He used to have a jam up pit as well... just decided he wanted to c
  5. How many "Texans" do you know? I know quite a few of them who catch quite a few hogs and I aint never heard them tell of a dogo nor an "American" bulldog, whatever the f**k that's supposed to be. Well here's a Texan that just hunted with dogos last week. 4 dogos were wrecked and my male jagdterrier killed on different nights. So believe me there are plenty of dogos and different dogs down here. Plenty of American ulldogs too. Come down and have a hunt with us sometime. See for yourself. You'll see pits, dogos, American bulldogs, and a sh*t ton of crosses. Catahoula x dogo and AB x dogo
  6. Of course he could mate..the ozzies stop em with smaller dogs...the pits trouble is though,he doesnt want to stop it..he wants to annialate it...thats the difference between a dogo and a pit..the dogo will happily hold till the owner makes the kill..the pit wants to make that kill all by himself lol This is entirely untrue. I've hunted with dogo, AB, and pit catch dogs. And crosses of all sorts. Pit bulls are THE most common catch dog. A good pit will catch on and hold solid. But they have little lung and are usually used as lead in catch dogs.
  7. only steers and queers come from texas, and you dont look like no steer lol Steer... bend over and I'll show ya my horn.
  8. Why all the hatred for the Texans? only messing mate.group hug lol Hell I know. Its all in good fun.
  9. The General Lee? Lol! You lot enjoy yourselves. Me and my mongrelized colonial friends will be thinking of ya'll when we're running the dogs on hogs tonight. And while there may be a mullet or two in attendance, nary a tracksuit will be seen.
  10. Who says it's over?!?! "The South will rise again!" Well, one can only hope... I know the feeling.... The English conquered us in the 1200's, but we've been shagging their Sunday lunches ever since.. HAHAHAHA! I just pooped in my pants.
  11. Who says it's over?!?! "The South will rise again!" Well, one can only hope... Moonshine, marrying your cousin and mullets  Ah, I see you've been to West Virginia! To be honest, I have kin in the North that are more backwoods hillbilly than any Southern redneck. I was just visiting them this Summer... banjos, 3 different kinds of shine, bluegrass music... a few extra chromosomes here and there. Good times.
  12. Who says it's over?!?! "The South will rise again!" Well, one can only hope...
  13. Now now, we have only two races over here. Hunters and cityfolk.
