How long do y'all usually get out of a pair till you need to replace them ?  Looking at about 3-5 months for mine till they get to the point I have to replace them per company policy the non skid surface on these barges eat the treads pretty quick or wears out the leather on top of the steel toe ...always a fun feeling dropping right at $200 on a pair of work boots, and these are the cheaper ones 😂

Do you go to work on a horse... nobody down my street ever had a work boot like that😁

So after watching multiple videos on YouTube I decided to have a go at knitting my first ever net , I whent for a gate net as I don't realy have an use for a long net as rabbits are so thin on the ground round by me now so I watched some videos and sent acouple of  pms to find out wich was the best twine to use, I then was giffeted some twine off my mate who had some left over twine from when he tried to make some purse nets but gave up and just bought some up so I thought I'd have a couple practice runs first and after 2 days I finaly finished my first ever gate net , still got to put the draw cord on wich are on order .

A big thank you to nettrigger for putting up with me chewing his ear off for advice and sending me lots a vids and helped me out when I messed up .. its not the prettiest net but its my first and I'm chuffed with it ,

Like it or not, and for better or worse. France will most likely emerge as the dominant power in Europe. They have the resources available, the demographics, and the largest army. That's usually all it takes.

I think Poland fancy that title

What happened to going out on a full moon the old skool ways. You can't tell me that when it's lit up on a decent moon night men can't spot game.  Expensive doo for a few pheasant & rabbits. 😆. A can't get my head round some people crazy spending 1500 quid on something that my eyes can do on a decent lit up night bonkers.

Thermal will spot people as well as wildlife..

Do you use thermal for long netting smithie?

Not normally but last night I looked from the road side with the thermal before I parked the car up as it was bouncing down..

No point once in the field as they run the edge I netted or go through the gate (I did not net it)

I just needed to know if I had a chance or no chance.. or stay dry / get wet lol

I did some long netting last year to catch some rabbits up and release them elsewhere (didn’t work well unfortunately) and I can agree that removing them from the net is hard work in the dark. To remove them unhurt was even harder!

It you want them out alive go up a thickness in twine and leave a man on the net if your a little twitchy about them getting out.. I use 4z and it tangles but its the correct mesh size what gets the rabbit in the first place and as it thicker z it will be easier to find the opening to remove your rabbits

  7. I have not been out with the longnets at all this season, but I had seen the netting jacket hanging along with the nets carefully hanked at the end of the last season.

I've seen Terry had been out and after reading his post it had me thinking should I have a go?

Well tonight was the night I finally decide I'll give it a go. I grabbed the jacket plus two 50 yd nets and got in the car heading off out in the rain

On pulling up it was windy, a  bit strong but also nice and dark, nothing to do with the moon phase but more to do with all the forking rain clouds that had followed me

It was bouncing down but I had made my mind up and I was netting.. on with the jacket, nets in the pocket and off I went in to the dark with my head tillted to the side to keep the rain out of my face lol..

On this drop its usually 125yd of net. 2 x50 yd and a 25 but as I already said today it was just two 50s, or so I thought.

Pulling the carefully hanked up net that I had spent time putting away carefully I found I was not that careful after all. The net had slipt over the loop of the end pin and there's nowt I can do in the dark with the wind and rin in my face so I placed it down on the ground and slowly set off running the other 50 out..

It went out quite well but I had to go slow as its been a while but it was out and just need filling.

I walked the field tapping a peg on mi welly hoping I was going to get something.. 1 will do, I only need 1 and I'll be clicking mi heels together with glee.

Well after a walk around the sodden field I got back to the net and straight away a rabbit, that was me happy even though by now the rain had soaked through my coat and my t shirt was sticking to me.. chinned that  and moved up the net, there's another and another much better than I expected but the wasn't  it done, 5 in total.

Easy enough to catch but getting them out the net was not so easy i had to use a torch to see what I was doing, still it was a chore but we got there in the end 😁

If I ever buy other net I'll be trying 6z
