  1. I've not been posting on site for a while. But as well as Doglost- I run my own rescue. 12 months ago we may have seen a couple of lurchers or working dogs a month- coming through the pound. Now its every week, saluki x, collie/grey x, greys - now all these dogs belong to some one- they dont just 'appear' from nowhere. I see all the STOLEN/MISSING threads. Terriers, Patterdales Yet even when these dogs are plastered all over Doglost & we are telling you they have been found- no one claims them - WHY??? Sorry but I do think dogs are been overbred & if you are going to w
  2. Thanks - we have some help once over there -its the getting her over thats being the problem.
  3. IS anyone travelling from from UK to Southern Ireland that can take a dog?? Or do you know of anyone travelling that can take a rescue dog over with them. She is going to East Galaway Animal Rescue but the transport we were using keeps being delayed - mean more time in kennels. She is an extremely friendly girl - only young but waiting to be moved. If you can help please email me on dash01@btinternet.com
  4. Can I ask you to contact the Weimeraner Rescue. These dogs require exercise, training and leadership. My friend owns 6 of them. Yes they have high prey drive they are a working dog BUT the rescue IF they agree to take the dog will match him to the correct family not just pass him about to anyone. I do agree that no reputable trainer would tell you not to bother trying to train a 4 month old puppy. However, what has been done is already done. Rescue is the safest way forward for the dog
  5. It has nothing to do with giving ammo to the anti's. Im hardly the type to support them, I do not have a problem with hunting and pest control - that includes foxes. Bout time some of these people got into the countryside and saw what some of these' delightful' creatures do. It doesnt need a post from me about dumped dogs either to give them ammo when there's pics all over various sites of kills. There's no excuse for leaving a dog in that condition. There's a lot of working lads/lassess are good dog people - the ones that arent are giving everyone the sh*t reputation. There's some
  6. Chill a bit peeps- I didnt post this to start a war. Lets just say being involved in dog rescue I get to know a lot more than what I post. I know it was out coursing - it was underweight bones prominant, exhausted & a busted leg. The extent of the damage wasnt known at first. There were police involved & chased. This is happening all over the country & yes its bloody stupid that overgrown bunnies warrant this level of police activity. I think people have forgotton than man has always hunted -be it for food or the hell of it & no-one has a right to dictate any different.
  7. I dont have a problem with chasing whatever. I think some of the laws in this country are downright stupid. When chasing furry creatures is a bigger crime than shooting, knifing, and beating some one up its a sad state of affairs. When it warrants god knows how many police chasing round the countryside in the early hours- thats even dafter. Yes it is the minority - but there is no excuse for leaving an injured dog in a field to die because its too injured to hunt food or get help. I dont hunt- I do live in the real world, if your dog wont mend then at least have the guts or compassio
  8. If he gets picked up he will probably been taken to Hampole/Mount Pleasant Kennels - 01302 722748 They also sometimes get taken to the rescue centre at Bawtry
  9. I know some members on here find me amusing- some others who know me a bit more know that dogs are my priority and as long as they are looked after, fed have warm beds & not beaten sh*t out of I have no gripes or problems with anyone working the dogs or homing to working homes. What is really starting to annoy me is the amount of working dogs we are getting through the pounds (NOT where I keep my dogs although we do get them) mainly in the North East & South. In general - seized in chases, left on fields, escaping- the reasons are endless but when we try to find owners they d
  10. Fab looking dogs & as some one already said BE CAREFUL- too many getting taken at the minute.
  11. Please look at the link - scroll down quite a few lurchers/ saluki x etc. Dont know if any of them yours http://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/info/200089/street_care_and_cleaning/604/dog_warden_service/3
  12. You could try Ebay - they have everything else if no one comes back to you
  13. I havent seen them help anything for months. We had a starved Dogue De Bordeaux brought in- there pics on my website - they wont do anything about it. A dog got hit with a car on the bypass where I live- they wouldnt come out, the dog was lucky it lost a couple of teeth & had some scratches. PErhaps if they actually used some of the money they are given to look after the animals instead of paying for tv ads we'd get somewhere RSPCA- joke
  14. Firstly- why not home through 'proper rescue' - I am a proper rescue - I dont cherry pick all the cute dogs that can be homed at the drop of a hat like some 'proper rescues' I dont claim to neuter/vax & the rest of it then dont but still charge for it. Without being arsey if idiots stopped breeding staffies & other dogs, owners stopped dumping their dogs the rescue wouldnt be needed. You tell me why a 10 mth old puppy should be pts (Ellie)?? or a 3 mth old staffy -pts. Gus is about the only 'ugly' dog I have at the minute -his personality is fantastic. Sirius is a HUGE rottie
  15. Its another tragic waste of a young life. Not long ago a jrt mauled a young child- it never made the news. We were always brought up with dogs- but we had rules in place. We dont know what set this off & probably never will- I dont know what arresting the member of the family will acheive- he probably suffering enough as it is. But WHY are idiots still breeding aggressive dogs- pits, mastiff/staffx etc- I see them every week- time bombs waiting to blow. This family will never get over what has happened and its so un necessary ANY child & dog needs supervising. I have 3 d
  16. Ive always used tick puller from vets -especially after holiday in Wales & dogs were full of the blighters. Have also spent a good hour with whisky & cotton bud- which works if you dont get bored and fall asleep first
  17. This is sad reading & parvo is on the increase. PLEASE vax your dogs, its such a waste of a good animal for the sake of a jab
  18. Hiya, I know a few of you know my better than others, some think I crazy whilst others know I am. As well as helping with missing dogs on Doglost & being a Co-ordinator I also run my own rescue. www.d-a-s-h.co.uk I have taken in more dogs than I should have ( to avoid them being pts) but Im now desperately short of funding. I know everyone is skint - I also finished my job covering maternity leae three weeks ago. Can anyone help? I currently pay £5 per dog per dog for boarding - that includes my feeds and the dogs been walked. I can go anywhere else- these kennels are t
  19. These are already logged on Doglost and helpers notified. I understand a lot of helpers with these & hope they are recovered quickly.
  20. http://www.strayaid.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1133:016-10e&catid=11:coxhoe&Itemid=17 Can you please look at this - any one knowing the dog- not 100% it same markings. need some help
  21. Ok I am in better position to comment so without naming places. Most council pounds operate a 'Rehoming' Centre. The dogs are held for compulsory seven days then put up for homing. SOME will vaccinate, some dont, some microchip - some dont, The ones that charge a rehoming fee normally vaccinate- AND will provide you with proof of this be it on a card or a authorisation slip. Some will have vouchers to enable you to have dog neutered at reduced cost. Bearing in mind neutering costs minimum of £90 up to £200 around here - most dogs are not neutered. If a dog is picked up as
  22. I have a white staffy bitch to be collected from Springfield Pound at OSSETT - and a staffy x to be collected from Worksop SATURDAY Both these dogs need transport to Northampton Services I CAN PICK THEM UP & GET TO NEWARK - AT A PUSH CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP FROM NEWARK TO NORTHAMPTON - or do the whole run??? I CAN LEND CRATES - HARNESS LEADS ETC. Tess -is in the pound & in danger of pts. Hugo is neutered, vax & a friendly little lad. If you can help please pm me. This has to be done SATURDAY- these guys have rescue spaces in Dorset lined up
  23. PLEASE PM ME name of kennels. It will not go further than me- promise you that. Reason Why- I rescue out of kennels- council pounds. We vacinate all our rescue dogs. I know for a fact it wont be one of mine BUT it wont be the first outbreak of parvo either. I cant believe vet bill is £1000 thats ridiculous- even after been on a drip. Occasionally you will get kennels cough- its like our colds. Most dogs get it with the change in enviroment. Parvo- in theory - if all owners vax there dogs- even if its runs off and it picked up as a stray it shouldnt contract parvo- although the
  24. If dog still available - Ill take him through my rescue
  25. The link doesnt work. The main problem is anyone can breed a dog irrespective. Once chipped a dog can be sold on and no one is made responsible for keeping the chip details updated. Dogs are left on street/ fields & wherever. They are picked up and taken to kennels. Doglost and others print posters -notify sites like this- check microchips- and yet over half will not be claimed- WHY??? Because the council levies a charge- NOT the kennels- the council, the amount of dogs that stay in kennels because owners cant/dont want to pay. 90% dont wear a collar, or a tag, rarely ar
