  5. What was the injection RH, was it cartophen? That's what my best whippet recently had for a broken elbow + 'strike' powders. It apparently promotes growth in the cartilage. I went to Brian Jones in Newry for him when his lameness (even with crate rest) persisted for a couple of weeks. Hope she gets better mate, my whippet is still hobbling around after 10 weeks now, but at least now he looks like he may get better. Dave got it in one Dave, thats exactly what he gave her, i couldnt remember the name, it was Brian Jones i went to in his clinic in Dublin cheers
  6. Sorry to hear you feel that way Fraggle i,ve got plenty of stick from lads on here for lots of different things, but to me its just harmless banter, iget a laugh out of it more times than not, i dont think its meant to be malicious, and even if it was it wouldnt bother me anyway, try not to take it too serious and give as good as you get, after all you,ll probably never meet these people in your life besides, there are loads of lads and lassies on here who genuinely go out of thier way to help others ps, hope you stay on
  7. Brought misty back to the vet today, he gave her another injection to help the cartilidge around th bone to heal up properly, he also gave me powder to give her with her food for two weeks, this is also to help the joint knit properly, he reckons shes not out of the woods yet but shes coming on well, he told me to let her take it easy and not to let her run around as she can easily hurt herself again, he never mentioned her tail but i,d say it will have to be removed because it seems completely dead any way we,ll see w2hat happens in the coming weeks
  8. The hornet is ideal for foxes, i,ve had one for years and its accounted for several species the 223 is a fine gun but my phylosophy is, if it aint broke, dont fix it, the choice is yours
  9. thanks mate, you of all people know how bad it could have been, did you find out what caused his death?
  10. gutted for you mate, cant say much more
  11. i cant believe how much misty has come on since last week, shes running around at full pelt up and down the garden! i had to shout to stop her as i am afraid she,ll hurt herself before she has a chance to heal, but i tell you what, it a sight for sore eyes to see her move so fast i couldnt believe it i dont care if she has to lose the tail, i hope she dosent but once she,s running again thets enough for me, thanks again lads for all the messages will let you know how she gets on this tuesday
  12. the big C takes no prisoners, well very few anyway, my ma has it and they cant do anything for her but ease the pain and slow down the growth, shes 83 years old and shes doing ok in so far as she gets about a bit and still has her witty sense of houmer, shes happy that she has seen at least one of her grandchildren get married and has several great grandchildren, she has accepted her faith and dosent moan about it, the doctors didnt give her any time, they reckon something else could kill her before the cancer because the older the person the slower the spread, and they can really slow it down
  13. had misty my lurcher bitch at the vets just before Xmas, she had taken a nasty tumble when she went out of the beam while coursing a rabbit out lamping, she has broken a vertebre in her back just above the tail, an inch further and she would have been paralysed, there is some paralysis above the tail and the vet reckons she will have to lose half if not all of the tail, shes on tablets at the moment and is running around as if shes fine, shes back to the vet on tuesday to see how shes progressed, he says he sees no reason why she cant make a full recovery and run again, minus her tail well
  14. thanks for that wet, just got one today, might give it a bash, the bitch is still pretty sore but getting better, will let you know as soon as shes ready
