hi guys. i wanting to have a go at rearing some game birds, the farm im on has (from what ive seen) a few red legs, phesants and about 3 mallard. its quite open (big fields) but with plenty of woodland around the place. so i was thinking of gray partridge, any hints/tips? i was also thinking of trying mallard because there is a good river on the farm with lots of smaller streams around it, with some slower pool, very deep bits, shallow bits and a HUGE patch full or little reid islands. dose this sound like duck country to anybody else? cheers rob

Don't forget, you can get 21gram loads in 12 bore. They don't have a huge kick. I have a Franchi Hunter 12 bore semi auto for sale, but I reckon it'd be too punchy if you're worried about that aspect. well i dont know much about how the different bores fell so really im guessing that a 12 would have a big kick... so really i dont know

i wasnt really going to do clays with it, i figured i could practice unitll i got my own gun, but i suppose if i liked it then why not... do 12 bores not have quite a kick in them?
-
im wanting to get my first shotgun soon, ive had very little experiance with them but i was going to go clay shooting over the summer holidays. im 16 at the moment and a resonbable build (not sure if this has much to do with it) i was thinking of a 20 bore, for shooting pigions, crows etc. i was also wanting to join a rough shoot that meet just out side my house i dont want to spend much on a second hand one (thinking £250-300 tops) ive noticed that single barreled ones are fairly inexpencive, or are they more hassel than theyr'e worth? i also like the look of the hammer guns, is there

compond bows.... recurves... traditional bows, (longbows, flat bows) WE HAVE A WINNER!! i currently shoot an english longbow, and they're far better the componds or recurves!! you may not get the result you want right away, but when you do you've learnt something that you actually worked for, not just zeroed the sights!! plus you can learn to make your own bows, and i dont mean boj jobs by anybodys standards! you can pick up some resonably priced ones if you scan about, feel free to pm me if you want more info rob p.s i know my spelling is sh!te but im dyslexi

only law following shooters will be affected by this! do you really think avarge joe ned who shoots cats will bother to go and get his air gun licensed??
-
dont you just hate to close minded twa!s well all i can say is that if sh!t keeps up guess where im off to.... NZ baby! get myself some pig dogs!! i think we should set up outside the scottish parliment! how many of you ladies and gent are in scotland!?! rob
-
what about a manditory test, eg. safe shots to take and what are not, identifieing quarry? so if you pass thats your license kind of thing?

first off: thanks for so many posts, has to be my most sucsessful one yet as for the comments that yeeharr put across about different grups of feild sports distinsing them selfes from other types, fair enough, but what i must say is that i would back any other sportsman/womens sport, and we should, as it may come to them defending yours at some point. i feel that we shouldnt give an inch, as soon enough we will have lost a foot, but if we have to, we should make the anties work like hell for it! EVEN if it meant setting up out side the scottish parlement in a responsible protest.

i'm sure some of you will have heard about this new (forgotten the first part of the name) commission, which is westminster handing some powers over to the scottish government, amoungst these is air gun laws. the scottish government has purposed to ban airguns, i'm not sure to what extent, but either way, its not good. as responsible air gun users i feel that we need to start a potation against this proposal. preferably someone computer literate and who could post it on a number of shooting forums to borrow a quote from another member ''they'le have to ply mine from my cold dead h

im wanting to get my first ferrets, and ive been told jills make the best workers but i dont want to have to get a jag to take them out of season if i got them spaid would this put a stop to them needing to be maited every season? or would it cut down on their working ability? any veiws appreciated! rob
-
im not a pro at ferreting, infact i was passing through the section as im wanting to start but they have no lawfull claim to not give him back, if they dont theyr'e neglecting their duties!! but if you have to you could play the pet card! best of luck

looks like a cracker! i want a sprocker aparently a hot water bottle and a clock that ticks is meant to soothe them while theyr'e trying to sleep

on my permission there are a few places where there a long strait bits of fence with no cover on the field side.... but so thick on the other that its impossible to stalk the rabbits from with my air rifle. im not even 40% sure of how to use longnets, and im not allowed ferrets or a corsing dog but is their some way of setting them up so the when the rabbits go out to feed you can make the net drop down and as they runn for their warren the run into the net? or is this utter bullsh!t that i thought up out of desperation? any help would be usefull cheers rob
