We have already met with the CA and will be working with them

what does this mean money to be paid to join the c/a or will there just be membership fees for this lurcher club ?

Why are you concerned? You said you aren't going to join. All you have done is be negative, so why don't you leave this thread to those who want to work toward defending our sport. There is no point in raking over ashes and 'we should ahve done this' etc, because none of us have done anything for ten years, so we've all ourselves to blame.

    Onward and upwards.

Membership etc will be sorted by an elected committee when we have things in place for a committee to take over.

We are working with the CA as they are the body to represent us to the politicians who make laws. The relationship with the CA is to get them to actively do more for the working lurcher and its owners

  2. If lurcher work is banned do the government think guys will turn there dogs into pets or just sell them lol the might bring back death sentence for poaching and give knight hoods to pedos atb we this lads

if lurcher work is banned they will not give it a thought , just apply the full power of what ever law they have introduced, fairly or not, to those who are proven to have broken it. Its up to all of us to make sure no laws like that are passed

  3. going forward there will be true representation for the modern lurcher and the lads who own them. We all have 2 choices.

    1) get behind what people are doing ( not for themselves but for everyone)

    2) sit back and criticise , watch your freedoms and liberties get eroded away and fall foul of every crap law introduced.

    Talking of crap laws,

Bit off topic but how is Scotand looking forward to the changes to airgun laws Davey ?

    http://basc.org.uk/basc-scotland/airguns-in-scotland/airgun-licensing-in-scotland-frequently-asked-questions/

next thing will be all lurcher owners to wear, hi vis kilts , bells and the dogs have to be muzzled and wear clogs

we should all do everything we can to preserve what we have

  5. This is my cb2 in comparison to my clulite plr500. The plr500 is cordless and has an internal battery. My cb2 is run from a lithium pack that barely weighs anything.

The lamps feel roughly the same weight.

the plr500 is bigger and more unwieldy to handle and the button makes for shakier handling for some reason. They have about the same distance though the quality of the image lit up by the LED plr500 is poorer than the cb2. The white light is not as friendly as the warmer light of the halogen.

I will use both but mostly the cb2.

That seems to have been a very positive first meeting, well done to all concerned.

Perhaps localised meets would be good to spread the word as such, not everyone is on THL, a few of the lads I do a bit with aren't and are true dog men who I reckon would be interested in this.

As this develops even hiring a room in a pub, village hall, club etc and putting a small meet together to spread the word may work?

I feel there's a lot of questions that will be thrown about as we all hunt/act and think differently, but surely a united voice is a good thing?

I think two of the steering group members are from down your neck of the woods ,if you would offer to set up a meet up in a pub etc with your friends associates and any other interested parties in your locality they would come and answer any questions and talk through the aims and objectives of LAGBI. As would other members in the different localities around the country this is a national group even international to include Eire also so any local events meet ups etc should be arranged if possible even with existing groups and clubs who are interested, spreading the word is thew ay to grow and develop the association with like minded folk.

There's a couple of places I could organise a room in around Exeter,

I'd be happy to do that, meet have a yap over a pint and see where it goes

    pm'd you newkid

Do BF make different types of Mud tyres ? ....the one im looking at is the BF T/A KO2

I think that's the latest tyre they do ... my mate is running kingpin technic tracker mud MT2 Tyres very similar tread to the bfg's and half the price ... he has had them on 8 months and so far and they are wearing well ..........

I ran kingpins before and they quickly perished and cracked between the treads in cold weather. I wouldn't use em again

  8. mine gives it his all on every run. full of heart . He's a good dog to have around at home and a right character. He's got his failings and that's mainly down to me as an owner but he does all I ask of him in spades. It's horses for courses.

One man's meat is another man's poison

  9. As far as the best mud tyres i'd go with bfg km2.

There's a price to pay with having mud tyres on road in terms of fuel economy, road noise and general handing though driven with respect they're safe enough.

You have to figure out exactly what sort of off road work you do and how much of it to decide whether all terrains are a good compromise.

Some mud tyres handle very poorly on tarmac especially in the wet and some brands aren't all that good off road either.

what vehicle are you considering putting em on ?

Personally i run all terrains now and have done for a couple of years. Never been stuck yet .

  10. Loads of people contradict their views on here.

End of the day even from top notch parents you get shit.

People sicken dogs far too young, don't know how to train them or even put in basic rules firmly from young. IMO the collie x will make a mug of you if you ain't thinking properly and that's it.

And most views on Hancock dogs are always from one they saw run once, or knew someone who said this or that.

i ran my dog week in week out with my mate and his hancock bitch but she was a cracker .

the hancock's have just adapted to the market. The folk who want working dogs from them must pale into insignificance compared to pet/ agility owners.

the fact that they're still breeding must tell us that.

    Time to move on.

  11. I have a lazerlite and never had any bother ever with it. I bought the plr500 to try it. The beam on the LED is good. The "colour" of the light is what takes some getting used to though eye shine is spot on.

The plr500 is if anything a bit more unwieldy than the lazerlte.

I'll keep and use both as i see fit

its yet to be seen how the plr500 will last over time. the lazerlite has proven itself over the years and all spares are available.
