    :D i love terriers lol
  5. terriers are an addiction and obbsesion how many times have you came home after a dig and replayed it in your head til the early hours or the night before you go til a fresh bit of ground and you cant sleep with anticapation of whats to come and for some man to tell you that you cant do it any more is compleaty wrong and i cant see me taking much notice of him if it comes to the crunch ;)

Exactly!Had many episodes of insomnia after a dig never really asked other folk if they get it, sounds a bit weird when i say i cant sleep as my head is filled with the sound of the shovel clanging and the dog baying!

mate its our hunting instincts kicking in and the excitement of the hunt that gives ya the warm feeling inside, its what the stoneage hunters felt aswell and they drew theyre hunts and prey that was hunted in cave drawings its a hard wired instinct in almost all of us. millions of yrs old

pity that cxxt phillpot doesnt undersand that

i spent most of my life sourcing ground. and checking it for earths. going from earth to earth . farm to farm. allways working against the clock add to that you needed the right dogs to get the job done often before you where loseing light. its a habit that is hard to break. giving up fags is easier. lol

its hard to break a way of life

  8. this is a perfect place to disscuss it the reason our sport is the way it is people were alowed to criminalise it while we were in the pub discussing it over a few pints i work my dogs in the confines of the law and have nothing to hide so why sneak about and get on like we are doing somthing wrong

Bullshit! If ive understood what he's trying to say is that we in the uk don't test our terriers as well as we used to and that they have better terrier over seas as they can legaly work different quarry? this topics going to draw in stupid comments and the antis are going to love it

bollox to you 40 years ago all terrier work was legal here and the dogs had to be on top of there game so if its legal in europe the dogs will have to be on top of theres so a line will emerge as good as any that emerged here

I'm not going to answer that, but you must be dumb as f**k

if you read my post i stay within the confines of the law so how am i dumb acting like there is somthing to hide is dumb thats why terrier work is in the state its in

  10. in regards to the topic it is inevatible that the terriers in europe overtake ours in standard we all know an old terrier man who dug his dogs every other day in holes 20 foot deep with no fancy locator as terrier locators have improved it has made the dogs task that little bit easier i know every man with a working dog will say my dog is a good as any old time dog and you may be right but would you put that same dog in a 20 footer with no locator and put your hand on you heart and say they will stay till you find them and dig them i will never know because i wouldnt do it so are the terriers now as good as they once were maybe maybe not

  12. Do you think that the thing that was bigger than your dog, had a curly coat and made a 'baah' noise could have been a sheep?

I'm seriously concerned about the type of person this place attracts these days. Nike wearing lampers who don't know what a sheep looks like have no place in the british countryside, never mind on THL.

He bit like a fish in the ocean :)

he is a bit like a fookin ejit :feck:
  13. personally i think yous all should have come up and talked to the IWTF and supported what we are trying to do, the work we have done and the advice we could have given anyone of yous as in regarding the dog game in northern ireland or southern ireland, we are not actually lurchermen but we do know a fair bit about your particular choice in dogs..ie..the lurcher and what you can and can not do to work them legally in ireland.... the terriermen all seemed too stay away too lol.... yeah of course we had some interest and the weather was bad... but the fair itself was really good with great stalls, loadsa choice, great judges, fine food and an amazing turn out, was just a wee bit dishearted if im honest at the lack of support that we really should be receiving... instead of fighting over who won a lurcher race at a show or who got the prize rosette....

i suppose the lurcher racing men have nothing to worry about as there bit of sport is not under attack ..... until phillpot decides its cruel to breed a lurcher for running if he gets his way with the terriers it will not be long before he is looking to criminalise lurchers and everyman that owns one
