  1. i agree to comments made about custom fitting a home load to your rifle.......additionally have a look at the trigger pressure on your rifle some rifles have heavy triggers approx 5lb required to release shot, you could be pulling your shot resulting in poor groups. My howa 1500 heavy barrel .243 had a 3 3/4lb factory trigger shooting 1.5 inch groups. Fitted a Timney trigger set to 1 3/4lb shooting sub 1 inch at 100yds all shot with 100gr federal powershok (no bipod)....working on home loads now hope this helps
  2. CCI work fine in my 10/22, 1/2 inch 10 shot group (2 flyers) rest key holed at 45yds, mine standard stainless barrel, never had a jam yet. However i know of a 10/22 target and this shoots accurate but continually jams with CCI/RWS tried subs and HV even tried changing the edm extractor on the gun.....work in progress
  3. I fired 50 of these at a recent clay shoot i agree they give a kick i also noticed when cleaning my miroku that there was a tar like residue inside the barrel chamber area that was difficult to remove without using solvent
  4. How about buying used...... A ruger 10/22 for example all you would be buying the gun for is the receiver; because even if you bought a new gun like i did you would probably strip everything out and replace it with custom parts just to personalise/improve the gun to your liking when you have the budget available.
  5. Also worth checking out you tube, some good instructional videos on how to completely strip down your 10/22 for cleaning dont be afraid......youll never regret stripping down your gun for the first time it maintains the accuracy
  6. i agree the stocks you either love them or hate them. Bell and Carlson make some mighty fine aluminium bedded replacements for the howa M1500 too, gonna have to save those pennies tho
  7. Hi all this is my first post on this forum, i have a Howa M-1500 wildcat mod .243 stainless varmint with the hogue stock firing 1 1/2 inch groups at 150yds with federal 100gr sp relatively new still only 20 shots fired since new. The only sticky area with the gun i have found is with the stock trigger mine had a pull of 4 pound when measured. Have just bought and fitted a Timney trigger which i have set to 1 3/4 lb looking forward to the zeroing session as the gun now feels fantastic. I can recommend anyone who wants to fit one of these triggers to fit it themselves it was a doddle onl
