  1. Mathmatically you have 2 POI, 1 close ( 35 yards for example ) and 1 far ( 100 yards example ) It's all very well putting round on round at 35 yards but that isn't enough room for erroer on the left / right zero IMO. I've personally zero'd at 100 yards, anything closer a little hold under anything longer a little hold over, simple

  2. Hi all, is there anyone technically minded and know's about Porta Mag's ? It turns on but the light on it fades after maybe 5 / 10 seconds ? Thought I would ask on here before I go down the road of finding someone to possibly look at it or if needed repair it. I was hoping it could be something fairly simple that could be done by myself ?

  3. If they wont grant .243 straight away, forget the hmr pop gun and get a proper fox control rifle like the venerable .22 hornet, or the superb .222

The fox that ate my HMR round the other night hasn't been able to complain about that so called ' pop gun '. Granted the .243 is better / bigger round for charles but for a night out on the conies and a fox comes up then all is good ?

  4. After seeing your sticks you guy's have made I went and had a look in the shed to see what I had to make use of. I found an old fishing tripod that needed some tlc, so a bolt, some WD40, 15mm pipe lagging, a fishing rod rest head and some black insulation tape later I have a light weight steady as a rock set of shooting sticks :) I think they are a bit tall at the moment but a few nights / days out will iron out the teething troubles I'm sure  Thanks for all your input

  5. Spot on with the pictures and input guys, some nice sticks to be made from stuff I'd never thought of. It seems to be that you guy's have all made bipods instead of tripods ? Is it because they're easier to make or just the fact there is no real benefit to tripod sticks.

  6. After a few years Air rifle shooting I now have my FAC and a CZ 452 .22 and Savage Arms .17HMR in my cabinet and must say I love them both. I have been using my friends shooting sticks ( 2 legs ) recently whilst out and also borrowed a set of trigger tripod sticks from a different friend. I like the effectiveness of the tripod as its a pull of a trigger handle and legs are down without having to mess about to much but the quickness of the 2 leg sticks was so easy. Air rifle hunting there was never a need to use them really, or more the fact I didn't really look into them too much but they do make life a lot easier especially as using live rounds ans safety is obviously paramount. What are you guy's using ( if any ) and what do you think are the pro's and con's ?

    Cheers all, Blackstaff

  7. I've got a 6 / 20 x 50 mil dot generic scope on my Savage and must say I like it. It was on the rifle when I purchased it so thought IO would give it a go. I had a Nikko Game king 6 / 24 x 50 ready for the hmr but Like the scope on it so much I have put the Nikko on my CZ 452 .22 Personally think it's all about how you feel about the scope, every eye is different as are we. So long as it's half decent quality then there are lots to choose from. Good luck
