  1. as said it is a great thread as there has not bbeen any abuse just difference od opinion about different calibres we all prefer our own and that wont change i have tried the 22.250 .243 .308 and i like the .308 a lot of folks think they kick like a mule i dont

  3. H i have a very good beretta 12g silver pigeon sl2 pump action 3 shot 2/3inch chamber full choke 28 barrel, want to swap for a good full bore rifle scope or laser range finder no unknown makes thanks,
  4. i maybe did not explain it right ie i should have said with the bigger bullit head exspanding it has more chance of hitting the heart even though its just very slightly than the smaller cal
  5. it was covered earlier lets say the deer is at 100yds and you are very slightly off with the shot the bigger head will do more damage so less chance of deer running off wounded
  6. more scope for error with a bigger heavier calibre they can both kill and both injure but you need to be more precise with a smaller one otherwise whats the point of different calibres for fox, deer, boar sorry but that is not true shot placement is more important for instant dispatch the bigger calibre does not have more scope for error i have shot roe deer just over 200yds with my .308 150grn sp and the exit hole was about 2inch heart shot, this was on flat open land the point of a bigger cal is you can use a lighter or heavier bullit head weight instead of haveing a couple of rifle
  7. getting instruction from someone in the field is better than sitting at a desk with the odd day out, i learnt most of my shooting self taught for many years then from people i mett , my fullbore rifle shooting started in the ta before i got an fac, i know its hard for people to get help in all our shooting sports but i do think its the best way. mechanics taught in college are not as good as guys who learn from the self taught mechanic
  8. the .308 is more versatile with bullet head weights from 100grn to 220grn and most factory .308 mrd is 150 yds zero, the 243 is a good round aswell but as i said before the fallow run with the 100grn but 150grn .308 the fell where they stood i am not say people havent had them run
  9. best shot plaecment heart or lung some take neck and head shots but they are harder to take unless you are a very good shot
  10. Hi i havent done the dsc1 and i have had fac for years my first was granted for roe deer as i had the farmers permission it was a .243 then i got new land and permission to control roe and fallow useing a 100grn sp the fallow use to run in the wood that was on a very steep slope and it had deer fenceing all around gates at top only pulling a fallow back up was a night mare so i changed to a .308 and 150grn sp they did not run anymore even the big lads fell where they stood i still use a .308 cant beat it in my veiw but others will say different
