  5. McDonald's have been selling mole for years havn't they??
  6. Just a thought! I'm sure the resident songbird population in your area would be better off if a few of those same crows were culled. WML Gen-LO8: Licence to kill or take certain birds to conserve wild birds Thanks Maltenby, Fortunatly I'm friends with the farmer who's land borders this house and he's seen these crows attacking his newly born lambs ( which are due towards the end of next week!!!) so maybe between us all the crows fate has been sealed.
  7. Thanks John, So how would I resole this problem and keep within the law, without telling my customer to build a garage!!
  8. JohnB, Stubby Please correct me if I'm wrong. So what you are saying is every time someone goes out decoying pigeon / crows on stubble (after the crop has been harvested0 they are breaking the law because the birds arn't doing any damage? but if in they whree shooting in the next field whre the crop is still standing they could say they where shooting to protect the crop?
  9. Stubby, As I said these birds are ripping chuks out of the windscreen wiper blades...... now surly common sense says that if this chap is driving along at 70 mph and he suddenly needs to turn the wipers on but unfortunatly they don't work because some feckin crows wrecked them so now he can't see where he's going won't this have a slight bearing on public health?
  10. Hello Glass Just keep trappin and maybe leave a trap or two permanantley set in your most productive runs.
  11. Arron As i'm a pest controller and wanted to know if other pest controllers had come across this before I thought it would be best suited to the the "pest control" heading of this forum. yes i have come across this in the past. slightly diffrent from your customers problem i have a job on the go at the moment for a collage where magpies are pecking out all the putty from round the windows they reckon they have done about £5000 worth of damage Hello Hound, Thanks for the reply How are you tackling this one in such a public place.......good luck

  13. Had a call today from a customer who has got a problem with a pair of crows that are vandalising his cars ones a Porche and the other is an Audi TT (he's obviously not a pest controller) both these cars are a nice shiney black, first they started attacking the door mirrors and have now started on the wiper blade rubbers which is resulting in hundreds of tiny scratch marks all over the cars. These crows have nest they are re building from last year in a tree above where they park the cars, I have managed to poke the nest out of the tree with DR5 extension poles and will probably go back next we
  14. Ratsnatcher the garmin gps i use comes with software for your pc this enables you to download your waypoints from gps to pc you can then print them out if you want so you can get best of both worlds. you can also store the waypoints on your pc for back up.
  15. I use a cover for mine similar to a mobile phone cover but they will also work inside a clear plastic bag if my hands start getting muddy I have an old biro on a lanyard around my neck and tap the buttons with that Hi Andy, I considered this idea for similar reasons a couple of years back, but when I asked a guy who had a far better model GPS than the one I intended getting, he claimed it was accurate to within a few yards. This didn't fill me with confidence. Are they better now, or are some areas better than others?. Hi Ianrob Mine will get me within 6 feet

  17. Just putting the feelers out here... I run large ammounts of traps, and its soon to get a bit larger, so anything that saves time, and saves me using pen and paper will be a godsend! I use markers aswell, but have still lost a fair few, especially when it was pissing down and my pad was a soggy mess. I ended up sick of using paper pads. Im not keen on spending a fortune on a gadget that is a pain to use, or that may break down when wet etc.. so could you give us some more detailed info on the unit you have experience of, how long it takes to add a trap site etc etc Interesting stuff,
  18. It is very simple literally takes 15 secs to add a location and much more efficent than pen and paper. when i'm setting i always go around a field anti clock wise (don't ask me why always done this) when I come to check the traps I simply follow the gps from trap to trap and never loose any. I always put wires on my traps to stop charlie and brock nicking them.

  20. How exactly does that work??? All you do is mark a waypoint with the gps of the position of your trap you set when you check the traps a few days later the gps will take you back to the exact positon of your trap. It is good especially if you don't want to mark the position with a cane etc (out of site of the public) Sounds really interesting actually, what kind of costs are involved? and how user friendly is it? (bit of a technophobe!) Foxy Foxy The cost of a basic gps would be about £100 but you could get them on ebay a lot cheaper and are as easy to use as a m

  22. Despite your hint of sarcasm..... I'm saying I use the gps to locate the traps, are you saying you can remember exatley where every trap you set is even if you have several hundred spred out over several farms? I would have thought that any device that makes the job easier would be a plus.
