Perhaps Jamie, however, how long did he write for the Shooting news which is now the CMW, it was a conservative guess 20 years, however a bunch of flowers would have been appropriate don’t you think?

I wrote for the Countryman’s weekly in the 90’s under the former editor Vic; however when David Veener took over in my opinion the magazine went downhill, Brian Plummer wrote for both the Countryman’s Weekly and the Shooting news, for over twenty years and under this new guy Dave they never even sent a memorial to his funeral, however covered the funeral in the magazine a made up story, to which I complained in writing to Venner, who phoned me, with a lame excuse.

Bring Back shooting News with Vic as the editor, the new guy Dave Venner is a J R Hartley merchant, I recon, the letters page in the old Shooting News was better than the whole magazine now, however, you can win a penknife for the biggest load of crap written about now, or a photo of a puppy, sitting on a pillow.

Shooting News use to cover lurcher terrier and such like moved away to be more like shooting times and went skint. Changed its name and has now moved backwards in my view bring back the old editor Vic.

Tell it to the Countryside Alliance J R Hartly Well we can stop buying Magazines that don’t support us or “email them†protesting that if they don’t support us, we will stop supporting them by buying there magazine, and lobby the Countryside Alliance, who support snobs & is run by snobs talking bollocks. Did'nt he write the book about fly fishing Seriously I can understand what your saying, many shooters and farmers do look at lurcher and terrier men being pretty low in the food chain. How we can change that I don't know.

I take your point perhaps you should take mine, the bottom line is Lurcher & terrier work is a dirty scar to them, you won’t find the terrier classes at the Midland Gamefair in the main arena? WHY you tell me?

EDRD might not be around forever though....then what? I think that it’s a foregone conclusion that the internet and web sites such as this, has brought about the end, or decline in subscriptions to such magazines as the CMW, and if they are to survive they certainly need to be more supportive to working dogs and dog men in particular, which up until now they are not, likewise with the Countryside Alliance that are made up from a bunch of snobs interested in shooting & fly fishing, nothing wrong with these two sports, however hunting is hunting?
