  1. I wouldnt recomend it yet have a mate with a pre anti tamper s410 that does them on a regular basis but this has been tweaked.
  2. I try to get out as much as possible usaly 3-4 times a week and never see any body else about so wouldnt think so but you never know but whee I am its highly unlikely.
  3. The dobberman has a lot of health probs as well I think it would be intresting to see if a cross would sort thes out. Freind's mam has had about five now that for one reason or another havent seen past 5year old my mam had one that saw 6 but they seem to come with there fair amount of trouble.
  4. bollocks!!!!! mabe ,,mabe not i put a post up on the same subject a month or so ago.Black rabbits are never seen on the land were i hunt, mabe a coincidence but there has been 1 or 5 times when out of the blue! `A BLACK BUNNY `shows it rather tame domesticated self and the next thing is dredded myxy is all over . asme9 You hit the nail on the head bud snap around hear nothing then wallop I wasnt trying to say that every black rabbit every where in the country is ridden with it but it does seem to be the case hear or maybe just a coincedence but one that happens every year.
  5. Oreyt mate just wonderd what did the keepers release black rabbits for. Cheers mexlad. Alright mate they used to put a black rabbit down in the old days and if it went missing then they knew something was a miss either poachers or predatory problem.
  6. them dogs look mint mate nowt to worry about bonny pair and if the farmer came that crack wid me id give im one of these :black eye:
  7. Just wondered If you see so many blacks mate have you ever seen one with mixy and where we are you only ever seem to see them very suddenly and you get them one here and there like I said in my previous post I have had different morphes young and old just not the black uns cheers mate for the feed back its something a lot of us have been talking about for a while now in ulverston like I said before as well proberbly barking right up the wrong tree.
  8. I dont know if any one else has noticed but around my town when the black bunny shows up mixys not far behind I know they used to be released by keepers as a poacher detection but now I think they are released on the sly infected with mixy I do quiet a lot of ferreting and have never seen a young black rabbit only ever full grown, never one with mixy and they appear over night I see brown and white and ginger rabbits all year round but not these black ones I see them and then get the gun and shoot them asap maybe im barking up the wrong tree but what do you guys think.
  9. yeh same as I have two lurchers that I am just starting but finding it hard to get the conney any odd ones I have seen have been right next to cover and are hard to get a run at
  10. Has any body else noticed that there seems to be a hell of a lack of bunnys around cumbria, where I am in ulverston there's usaly plenty but lately theres nothing there is plenty of roe,fox and baddgers aboute but no rabbit or hares even whe ive been out ferreting lately there isnt much at all couple hear and there and no real evidence of mixy.
  11. When rabbits are clapping walk up carefuly keeping the lamp just slightly of set so the rabbit isnt in the direct beam then kick it up the arse and let the dog off the slip bugger will see it then :11:
  12. A cracking read and intresting as well thanks guys look forward to reading some more keep them coming
  13. I had a beddlington x whippet that opened up recall was shocking as a lot can be but I got her at 11month old by the time she was 2year old she was very good with recall but never managed to combat the opening up but she became a cracking little ferreting dog with exellent nose and very good on rats she only made 18" TTS. Now I have stich he's 25"TTS first cross beddy x greyhound 14month old never opens up courage of a lion and the only injury was a nick on the neck when he was sizing a barb wire fence before he jumped it and it whent bad as a lot of neck injurys tend to, recall is spot on wit
  14. I think nearly all dogs can be trained to work and to do it well depending on the amount of time you spend with them most people that get rid of dogs because they are no good never have good dogs because they take them out once a month and expect the world and when the dogs dont catch 200 rabbits a night when there 12 month old and have only been out 3 times its time to get rid.this is not the case allways just tends to be more times than not and asspecially around my area. my bedlington x is only 14 month old now and by the time he was 12 onth had had 3 homes thank f**k they hadnt tried worki
  15. I bought a cluson cb2 delux charger, lamp and battery in a carry case £120 about 5 years ago and the battery went about a month ago now but a new 17amp battery only cost me £20 and my son droped the lamp and smashed the bulb but new one is only a fiver and the lamp has a walking light on it as well as the main beam and like some one else said cluson are more than happy to help even 5 years on I think there spot on and highly recomend them.
  16. I have also found it to be the same when I used to take my little bitch out that yapped constantly on the lamp it didnt make much difference its a pain to listen to and also if ur somewhere u shouldnt bee. I found that when on the rabbits heals yapping it sometimes gave them another gear but didnt find it realy bothered the rest in the field she was a good little dog and I was told hundreds of times by mates that they would have shot her had she been theres any way didnt really matter in the end as she was a much better ferreting companion than a lamper as she was a bit on the small side. tha
  17. Alright all. Dont know about big cats not seen one my self but I have a mate that has 2 cowateys 1 he shot and has stuffed and another the dogs got and didnt leave enough of it to be stuffed and the dogs looked like they'd done a round or 2 with mike tyson so wouldnt fancy there chances at big cats but wouldnt mind watching and as for a camera not bieng funny but who wants to smash a £200 quid item for the sake of getting a pic of a few dead conneys or a charlie or 2 seems prety piontless 2 me. I have a couple of mates that lamp the same way out of the van doesnt take my fancy I like to mooch
  18. I agree my little bitch that did it constantly was a pain and I used her mainly for ferreting after a while wich was a shame as she was making an exellent little lamping dog but when ferreting even when after bolters she was silent weird. But I am still of my own belife that whippets are more prone to open up than others but that is just my opinion and I have witnesed other breed of lurcher that have opened up but it just seems that whippets tend to take to it more than others. thanks for the replies.
  19. Hi all just wondered what peoples thoughts are on opening up I have had 2 dogs now that have done it and both were good working dogs I was told several times by people that they would have shot them and I thought there must be a lot of dogs that in the right hands would have made fantastic workers had they been given the chance and had this fawlt overlooked and wounder how many have met an untimely end or been passed pillar to post through this fault. Both of my dogs were whippet x one started at 12months and did it from the first coarse wich she cought with ease so wasnt down to frustration,s
