Deker
Posted Today, 09:18 PM
If it has been passed for .22lr it will not need to be checked again.
If you put in for a bigger calibre it will need to be!
Not always, the passed land will be passed for the largest/safest calibre, just to save furthur land inspections. So in theory it could already be passed for a 223 or larger if deer are on the land.just ring your local F,L,U and give them the name of the land/farmer,and ask what cal it is passed for

Hi all i have been thinking of getting a HPR,seeing as the breed of dog i was hoping for ( Redline Airedale) dosent look like its going to happen. So i was wondering if any members could offer any wisdom on the Korthals Griffon,1 of the reasons of thinking this breed is they will work close in.Im thinking of using 1 whilst out with the lurcher,as well as using it for what it was bred for, a hpr.Now i suppose im in for a flaming,so tin hats on.Thanks for looking.

Im looking to get my shotgun license very soon, and eventually (hopefully) when i have a large enough amount of pigeons, is there any market for selling them? to butchers ect?
If yes whats the sort of going price for a pigeon?
Im only fifteen and new to the game so ignore my lack of intelligence :L
thanks louis
Dont put yourself down Louis, you might only be 15 and yet to learn the ropes, but we all started out the same. There is a bit of a market for shot wood pigeon but most butchers i know will only take them if they are fresh.I couldnt give you a price you might get per bird as its different in most areas. As a rough guide i get 35p per pigeon, not a fortune i know but it does pay for a few cartridges. Also as far as im aware only butchers that are licensed game dealers are allowed to buy them,so dont bother wasting your time asking the likes of super market butchers. You could also try to sell some in local restaraunts, but i think they can only take them if they are prepared ready for eating but you`l have to do your home work on that one as i have never sold to restaraunts.hope this helps and good luck with your shotgun application.paul

Well i`m glad its been resurrected, after seeing your airedale Dill ploughing through the thickest of brambles and such without any hesitation was amazing. Its coming up for 6 month since this post was started, so with luck the dam will be coming into season just now.Lets hope for some serious interest.
I know im slightly off topic, sorry all

I can only assume you mean the fuds oakey, well i have trialed them out.but firstly i need to stress i have nothing to do with these decoys whatsoever i know they come from up north. and my review is totally unbiased i was at the midland game fair, and saw the stand selling them and thought to myself these look ok il give them a go,so i parted with my dosh and walked away with 3 boxes.i had set aside a couple of hours last thurs with the intention of giving them a test.right the field i set up on had recentley had peas on it,but sods law the farmer had ploughed it all up,leaving a semi rough finnish in prep for wheat.right the trudge began armed with 6 half shell,6 silosocs and 6 fuds.all the patterns where set out in the middle of the field, with each patern being an identical horseshoe a space of 10 metres was left between paterns.then i went and sat about metres away in my landrover armed only with my binos. after 15 mins pigeons started to land in the fud patern then pigeons flew over the shells and silosocs and landed smack bang in the middle of the fuds.after 2 hours of watching and keeping score i found that 1 pigeon landed in the silosoc patern,0 pigeons landed in the shell patern and 23+ had landed in the fud patern,i say 23+ as i failed to put a mark on my pad as the bloody phone rang, but i was still watching.i did notice that nearley all of the pigeons that landed in the fud patern stayed on the ground longer than they would in other decoy paterns i have used when out with the shotgun (ideal for an air rifle) when i 1st got to the field another lad was just walking over the field with his decoys and he set himself up at the top of the field and set himself up near to a spot i took a guest to a few weeks ago and my guest shot about 45 pigeons,in the 2 hours i was there this lad managed to get 4 shots off.
Note to mods,if i have caused any problems with the naming of decoys etc, please feel free to dump this post
Note to other members, lets please not start a war of decoys or a slagging off match i have posted this for you to make you own conclusions.and dont buy these decoys on account of what i have written.

i have shot over cut maize several times, didnt do very well at all.how ever i wouldnt totally discount it as it can harbour a good few crows, and if thats your only chance of doing a bit of pest control then it beats sitting in front of the telly,or listening to the old women lol

Last time i chrono`d this rifle it was shooting at around 50/60ftlb i think. This air rifle was covered in no mar tape and the damp has got in without me realising and hence it does have a fair bit of rust marks and this is reflected in the price.
rifle, moderator, and shin sung rifle slip, a couple of tins of barracuda pellets and rifle manual £300 grab yourself a cheap FAC. prefer face to face sale. please note this is a firearm and a valid certificate is required to purchase.
Edited to add it is a 22 cal
***REDUCED****
now £250 no offers most of the rust has now been removed and its ready for re bluing

flesh if you can get it, and if you cant get rabbit, squirrel etc, just get a pack of chicken wings only cost a couple of quid, but as your in ireland euro`s.A pack of wings should last 2 kitts 4/5 days but feed late evening to avoid flies. If any chicken remains un eaten in the morning remove it. Also give them a bit of complete say once a week then if there come a time when you cant get flesh, they will be used to dry food

longnetter/countryboyo.thanks for the nice words,if a bloke cant give help, advice, and encouragement to a newcomer its a bad do.i have taken dozens of lads+1 female out off pigeon watch, helping them with decoying, ferreting and shooting rabbits.and to be honest i have only encountered 1 complete timewaster,so anyone thats in a position to help newbies come on lads, give them a chance.

i agree with maria_ferrets,put some of the ferrets crap in the tray.however i start tray training my ferrets with a seed tray with the longest side of the tray cut almost level with the tray bottom, just leave a lip to stop the pee running out.i clean the tray and shavings out every day but until the ferrets use it regular i drop a lumpy bit in the back of the tray.
and put a house brick on 1 side to stop the buggers tipping it over
