  1. first post was 18 Dec basicly had my lurcher out in the freezing cold morning after didn't want to get up took him to the vets a few days later was given antinflammatories/painkillers.now i have noticed he is dragging his back nails which have nearly worn to the quick walking stiffly and sometimes with a strange gait.taking his time laying down and getting up.anyone know a good greyhound vet nnorth Manchester.any opinions ?
  2. thanks for the replies lads had him to vets was given anti-inflammatory/pain killer metacam meloxicam he walking alot better hopefully he will make a quick recovery.thinking he could have slipped on ice and twisted his back ?
  3. he isn't losing weight urine colour ok limp movement seems ok he his tence around the abdomen and back
  4. took my lurcher out for a walk and let run loose for a while out for over a hour in the freezing cold it was cold didn't have is coat on he is smooth coated and lives indoors.morning after he didn't want to move and walks very slowly when out for a crap.this as been going on for a few days now.all other functions are normal.anyone had similar probs with there dogs
  5. took him to another vet it turns out its grade 1and won't be a problem but look out for any changes great news the thing that bothered me was the vet look at what the first vet had put in my dogs records.he had put grade 1 but he didn't tell me that so hadme thinking the worst not happy.at least it as ended up ok phew
  6. went for a walk with the dogs to a popular place bumped into a woman i sometimes talk to with two rescue grehouds turns out one of them has a murmer was told to carry on as normal a bloke joined in he had a pointer with a murmer that turned out more serious that was three people by chance meeting having the problem.next dog iam buying having it vet checked before committing

  8. i have a 12mth old lurcher took him to the vets after he caught himself on barbed wire,yesterday,no real problems there,but when the vet listened to his heart,he said he could hear a abnormal sound,and advized me to keep him as a pet! has anyone worked a lurcher with this kind of problem,does it affect there proformance.gutted
  9. i have been doing what you said i think its going to take some time with this one,i thought some one might know a differant method i could try on him,ive always had pups in the past and hav,nt got the same confidence in training him time will tell.

  11. keep him on the leed mate get as close as you can and just show him he isnst alowed to look at them you got your own ways of showing a dog things thanks for that
  12. yeah i,ll try that,i hope to get him to catch a few rabbits,rats and squirrels he stands about 19 at the shoulder so may be a bit small,ive had lurchers before but quite a while ago,got him to a bit of fun really
  13. hi, i was given a bedlington cross dog a few weeks a go he was kept as a pet, but the owners couldnt cope with him chewing things he shouldnt hes 13 months old,my problem is he goes after sheep,has anyone got any usefull tips i could use to stop him.
