  2. Lil is the same only three but very good got her out early. Was slow to retrieve at first. She learned off my JRT strange ha ha. Cant wait for the new pheasant season.
  3. Nice dog ya got there. Lil is just gone 3. What do ya use Buster for?
  4. Throw up some pictures of your working springers, cockers and pointers. All great workers and companions.
  5. Have a few, not great im afraid. Here are a few from recently after heavy going. Christ heavey going in right... no wonder he has arthritis most heavey dogs tend to.. and as for bull i dont see a whole lot in him not saying theres not... and as for making a good dog in ground well thats down to the dog totaly... iv seen some weak quiet terriers work there bollox off and the strongest best looking well bred cling to anything walk away... its all down to the dog... He wasn always as heavy thats only since he has slowed up. well id say the weight isnt making the joints bet

  9. Yeah im looking for a new vet will find out more then i guess. Thanks for your posts
  10. Thats what i was thinking, local lads who know the dog are saying i would be mad not to take pups. I just dont want pups affected and picking it up. Should ne trying to keep the JRT pool strong and not keep arteritis going in lines. I just wanted to know would pups be likely to pick it up.

  12. Thanks for that. He got it around 4. It was when my pointer was killed. After the pointer died my JRT would not walk or hunt for a year he jus pined away for the pointer it was in this time he got the arteritus. What do ya think, was it always there or did he pick it up after?
  13. The bitch gene is stronger and pups usually come like the bitch but when you bring a son too a mother you run the risk of spay legs and worse.
  14. The bitch gene is stronger. A father can cover a daughter but a son can never cover a mother.
  15. Thanks mate i dont want to affect the pups though. He is a fine dog terrible to see his line stop there. Given the chance he would of been a good ground dog had the strenght with the staffie bull in him.
  16. He is an all rounder. I started him ratting and he has caught me rabbits. He hunted with a pointer when young and will hunt pheasant has an amazing nose. I never sent him to ground was too young(11 when i got him) plus i had no one to show me the digging ropes. If i got pups I would keep two on and look into putting them to ground. I think my dog may have been wausted because i was so young I am sure he would of been good at foxing. Thanks for your reply much appreciated if you want a pup and reckon he has served you well then find a good proven bitch and get pups pal Great little s
  17. Read it again not a plummer my bitch is plummer. He is a jack with 1/4 bull or did ya not spot that. He is as far as a JRT can be from a plummer

  19. Thanks for your reply friend. The thing is i dont want to have a pup crippled with arteritus at a young age not fair on the little dog ya no. I would have no problem retiring a dog myself. My own lad is not a ground dog but he will never retire ratting ya just couldn stop him. He has a lot of drive but is very stiff

  22. Cheap shot. Did you shoot it cause the cat was more dangerous hunting than you with the gun.
