oops, I should have added the words "most commercial shoots offered to UK shooters"....are in enclosures etc. wannabee's web link: http://www.gourmetfly.com/Huntco.htmis is interesting but mainly talks about their 'club' hunting set up - rather like our rough shoots where perhaps good company, food and being outdoors is more important than the actual bag....so this may not suit you if you are travelling a distance with the hope of shooting something.

you're a bit out of date. That was 6 trips ago. Terrible day that (accidents do happen - we think it was due to one of the small terriers being unseen behind a wounded boar and an inexperienced hunter thinking he was doing the right thing by finishing off the boar) and if anyone reading this thinks it would not happen to them - think again.....one of the senior guides told me that day he had shot a dog himself by accident some years previously)

Result January 2009. One group of 10 rifles for 3 days driven Boar + Deer. You can never tell with true wild game....the first day was our worst ever single day result in 20 years with only one boar and one fox shot. The second day was the highest bag shot in a single day in 20 years with 32 boar and 1 fox shot!! Final result for 3 days was 43 boar, 1 Red Hind, 2 foxes and 4 Roe does for 130 shots for 10 rifles. we go out Jan. 6 and return Jan. 10. Rifles only (must be .270 or greater) + low power 'scope. Price depends on number in our group. All trophy fees for boar & female

a bullet which is slow and heavy is the rule for boar (and any other woodland beast for that matter) and this includes heavy woodland stags, boar and so on. .308 is perfect. It's good even for roe deer as you don't get the meat damage often seen with very fast but smaller bullets.

But Diana went bust last Autumn of 2008. Boar in Estonia are heavier than some other Eastern European countries because the feeding is better and the population is lower. Many boar in France are in fenced areas and the cost can be quite high when you add everything up. Bag records mean nothing unless previous posters say how many shooters were in the group and how many days they went shooting. So saying "we shot 30 last time we went" etc. etc. does not give a meaningful indication without number of guns and number of days.

I've posted this in the sales/swap section but you re loaders may not see it. I've got about 150 x .308 & 50 x .243 cases used once. More cases being added all the time! Willing to swap for some .308 load in heavy soft nose. Central scotland best so we could meet & hand over.
