  2. im lucky enough to have been given a healthy brood, yet these thing where talked about during early pregnancy with my partner, came to the conclusion that if it did happen, they would be treated no different and would get all the love and care we had to give.End of the day our enjoyment would have created them there for its out duty as a parent to do all we can.i used to be quite nervous around disabled folk (giggle etc) due to being imature i guess untill i met my bosses son who has downs, what a f*****g star that lad is.i cant say how hard it can be at times but my respect to those who have disa
  3. is there saluki in his make up at all very distinct mask he has.
  4. So it "just jacked"? Fair enough. No offence mate, but you are hard work. lol. thats why no one likes him i couldnt care less, and as for being hard work, the hard work is trying to get it in to your skull that "rabbit" dogs jack. As much as fox and deer dogs? Cos that was my only point in the first place lol. if not more so nowadays, rabbits are the only things you can run with a dog,fox and deer are illegal.

  6. I'm just interested in what you think could have made your dog suddenly refuse to run rabbits at 4/5 years old, being that you said it was an experianced and fit dog, that had been performing well over a few seasons? where have i argued?i gave my 1 pence worth and you said no it was this that and the other that caused it lol, your just asking for a reaction with that, and i know that the dog just jacked end of no ifs or buts it quit fair and square. as for the "f**k off" im sure a lol followed it as i found what you replied with to be a silly statement,i know not all dogmen are made of the
  7. Very true, i would just doubt that many dogs, after performing well for say 4 seasons, would suddenly 'become' shit one night, on rabbits? After 4 seasons and on rabbits if the dog had been doing well, you would deffo look for other causes to a dog underperforming, thats a no brainer imho, but if there are no other causes then it may just have chucked in the towel.....it happens. who mentioned "one night" you know a dog well enough after that amount of time to notice a change, put it down to a off night?give it a break?only to go out again and watch it all happen again, like wilf says
  8. the humble rabbit will jack more dogs than you think. That'd be the owner mate, rather than the rabbit. Lack of fitness, poor bond etc etc. f**k off lol lack of commitment from the dog on the cases ive seen. Any real reason to be rude? Or are you 14 and it's par for the course? How many decent lurchers will 'jack' as in, refuse to run or tackle rabbits? And in comparisson, how many will refuse to tackle a fox or deer (pre ban) ? I feel, that if they will not run bunnys, but have been, then it is probably down to lack of fitness, an unseen injury, or poor ente

  11. There are plenty of dogs out there that even brought up well dont work how the owner wants. By that I mean pulling up at hedges, running half hearted on rabbits it doesnt think it can catch etc etc. If a dog exhibits traits which the owner doesnt like then to many that is a cull. There seems to be this belief that just becasue a dog chases and catches rabbits it has made the grade as a rabbit dog..... ive seen dogs 4/5 years old just up stick and refuse to run rabbits, fit experienced dog aswell,it happens alot more than whats bouncing round the head of ideatation,to much of a good thin
  12. Genuine question here mate,if you were in the market for a lurcher and had the chance to buy the Gaffer dog which has proven it's capable of doing a feat such as this or ANY "ordinary" lurcher that has caught the odd bunny and such on the odd occasion it's been taken out, ifboth were for sale for the same money which would you go for? ATB Andy. im never in the market for a ready made dog i rear my own and put down surplus...i also woudnt have the need for 12 hares i switch the lamp off if one gets up why slate others on something you dont do then?genuine question, its simple i dont
  13. question for you then mate what would you call a cull ?? an what would you breed from ?? have you ever bred from any of your dogs ?? well to me a cull is a dog that quite simply cannot or wont do its job for instance if i bred a litter of fox dogs pre-ban say half cross bull/grey or wheaten/grey kept a pup reared it and entered it as i saw fit and the dog refused to tackle a fox point blank then that to me is a cull i wouldnt see the point in keeping it, i bred it for a purpose and for what i wanted and it cant fulfil that task,i wouldnt dream of re-homeing it or passing the buck so to sp

  17. why not? why not hunt daytime hares and see if his dog can catch that many lol some folk chose daytime some folk choose lamping, and hares in there day where fair game on the lamp, why not run foxes daytime? because like the hare there alot easier to find in the dark i do hunt foxes in the day ,every sunday during the season? i bet you have more success on the lamp,we have a fox drive once a week can be out for the day,see say 2 or 3 foxes, after alot of mooching, beating etc yet pull up on that same farm after midnight and flick your lamp on 9 times out of ten youll be on straight
  18. why not? why not hunt daytime hares and see if his dog can catch that many lol some folk chose daytime some folk choose lamping, and hares in there day where fair game on the lamp, why not run foxes daytime? because like the hare there alot easier to find in the dark And catch. but aint everything????go and lamp 50 rabbits, then try to it daytime....youll be there all day,ive seen hares taken out there seat on the lamp, ive also seen alot more make decent dogs look like c**ts,decent land i wouldnt call a lamped hare easy

  23. Spot on that answer. totally down to the land, I have a spot which has a daft amount of hares on it, but the fields are huge arable (minimum 50acre) ones with the minimum shot distance of at least plus yards. Although the numbers are there and some, there is no dog or couple of dogs that could have done that. Other bits of land, longish wet grass, small fields and retrieving some hares is almost comparable to retrieved rabbit. The land I am talking about though just doesnt hold the same numbers for me to shoot. So it could never be done by myself with the land I have this was done
