    had a few 4x4s in my time. teranno,suzuki,110,pajero,hilux surf,sportrak etc but now run a 98 discovery 300tdi,not too bad on juice and get all the kit in. but as others have said,any 4x4 will do the job IF the tyres are for the job,the first thing i did was throw away the road tyres and boot her up with mud tyres,now she goes over hill and dale. as said earlier,you have to like to do repairs yourself on landrovers,so far i havehad good luck with mine and only had to put in a door switch,but parts are easy to get both new and second hand,and most are easy to fit. just my two pennys worth.

    For lamping with the rimmy i just use a clubman's lazerlight with 12volt 7 amp batteries plenty powerful enough for shooting mate but i thought they wherwe 1,000,000 candle power ?? have the lazerlight on my 10/22 and cz .22 rim. have a hand held strker for fox etc and a striker on the roof of discovery. lightforce are far better but lazerlight more than enough for the rimmy.

    we are now around 3 weeks behind with the wheat,not a bad thing for me as we can still get them on the rape stubble for a little while. other stubble has not been too good this year for some reason. the other thing i have seen a rise in this year if the fox,they seen to be everywhere.

    decided to have another go on the pigeons,setting off was ok then drove straight into the rain. about half a mile from the farm a pigeon comes low over a hedge and bang,straight into the path of the disco,BANG and feathers flying everywhere. i thought well if i shoot none today i still got one on the way,then my mate says,that cost you a few bob mate its just smashed one of your spot lights on the light bar....... after taping the light up we set off to the field,rain easing a little. when we got to the field there was only a few birds flighting and landing but we decided to set up and see

    i have a disco light bar for sale,this was fitted until today. fits 200 and 300 tdi models. did have four spots on until a pigeon wiped one out yesterday. still one good set of spots left and one you could use as a work light... £50.00 but buyer must collect from durham area. may swap for shooting/lamping related stuff. drop me a line at sa1mon@aol.com if interested.
