    Hi As stated above - how old is he, and whats his build ? The 95 is a decent springer, if hes well built then perhaps other springers would be better as the 95 is a lightweight rifle, although still full powered. Has he shot before ? What about a PCP, is there any chance of a second hand PCP setup for example as they are much easier to shoot - no recoil - so he will see better results quicker. Cheers Westy

    As has been said - I would zero for 100 yards - then its just point and shoot really from 70 yards to 125 yards - very little difference. As for range - I have taken 175 yard corvoids without a problem, but as has been said, if the winds up you will need to have put in some practise. HTH Westy

    I would just put in for it - South Yorkshire Police are not know to be lenient on Fire Arms applications, but when the FEO came round to see me, he never batted an eye lid at my request to buy 1000 and hold 1200 on either .22rf or .17hmr. If its that hard to get hold of ammo, I would have thought that a request of 2000 to hold would be very reasonable. As has been said, just try, you have nothing to loose. Cheers Westy

    I bought one earlier this year - I think it cost me £30 off ebay - didnt last too long in its original form, but once fettled - longer tougher chassis and the main spring retainer beefed up a little - its still throwing clays - and it can do 2 at a time as well. HTH Westy

    Afternoon All I need some help from you guys please. Don't ask how, but today I lost the only mag I have for my new (to me) Cz .17hmr. I have a shoot organised for an old friend on Friday, but without a mag the hmr is practically useless (in the dark it will be impossible to load). Now, the problem - the stupid shifts I am on at work prevent me getting ANYWHERE in normal hours so I can't get to anywhere to buy a mag. Can anyone please recommend me a reliable mail order place (internet based if possible) where I can order one from and have it delivered this week - before Fri

    I know you said not CO2 - but you cant beat a Crossman Ratcatcher - thats why they are called Ratcatchers - made for the job - immensley pointable - and has the power to deal with rats up to about 25 yard - but most ratting is done betwen 10-20 yards anyway. We use them in a team in the dairy sheds - regularly get hauls of over 40 a night. If you do get one, just stick a torch on top or a laser - helps in targeting - cos you gotta be quick !! HTH Westy

    Unfortunately, having spoken in depth to the guy I bought my .22lr from, it loves Remmy and dont get on so well will Eleys so I am stuck with the Remmy option.

    Thanks for that Jamie The 22 shoots Remmys well and Eley subs. I will give Rimfire Magic a ring on Thursday to see how much they charge - he is quite close and I can call in there on the way home so long as his open hours permit. Cheers Westy

    Yep, save up! In all honesty £250 isn't going to get you much. There was a CZ 527 Lux s/h for that money over at Minsterley Ranges a while back. If it shoots, that'd probably fit the bill. Thanks for the advice - it looks like I will have to start saving up then - but its so blardy difficult with all the goodies I keep seeing !! Cheers Westy

    Without somewhere to shoot you havent got reason to hold a firearm. You either need land to shoot on or become a member of a rifle club. You could always try to convince them you are a collector but I think you would be struggling with this option ! HTH Westy

    Hello all I have now got my ticket through and have spent the majourity of my cash on .22lr and .17hmr with a 12g Semi Auto thrown in to boot. I have still got a slot for a .223 and was wondering what you guys would recomend as a suitable buy. I havent got a lot of cash, but to be honest, the gun is just for foxing and so doesnt have to look like a million dollar target rifle. It will be wrapped in scrim in any case. If I say I have a shopping allowance of £200 to £250, any suggestions ? Cheers Westy

    Hi From my own recent experience, you could try and get a little more Amo - I put in for .22lr and .17hmr both with 1200 to hold and 1000 to buy - got them both without question. Just explain how bad the vermin problem is and it should come - mine did and South Yorkshire isn't know for being lenient when it comes to authorities. Cheers Westy

    Hello all, This is my first post on here, and I just thought I would share some good news I had today. I had a visit from my FEO today, and basically, he has given me everything I asked for on my application. .22lr .17hmr .223 FAC Air 1200 to hold and 1000 to buy for the rimmys and 160 to hold and 100 to buy for the c/f I am sooooo happy !!     Hello All First post - but been reading for a while. I am awaiting my ticket - although already have .22lr and .17hmr awaiting (being held by good friends on spare slots they have) I was thinking of possibly mounting a Connect 01 scope on the .22lr, has anyone any experience of using these scopes on .22lr ? I was hoping to do this, as I have made a mount to use my night vision with the Connect scope because it is a 10 x scope with a massive field of view and very good light capture. Cheers Westy
