  1. fell terrier looking forward to reading about George, and Bills dogs. all the best, and looking forward to reading more.
  2. For what use do people like John Parks breed some very small terriers ? i have known JP for many years and most the dogs he keeps are of a good size and weight, and would struggle to get to a fox in a 8 inch pipe. Small ones in his litters are usally given away. His pressant dog Stanley aint no light weight either. Digging in chalk well I have many times. JP was showing me a couple of weeks back his new digging spade with prongs welded on to it to break up the chalk, it looked like a back hoe on a JCB. type of dogs i keep???? working types, and I would never breed from or sell on quitters
  3. So what you are saying then is little terriers cannot work big places?? As for having different types thats common sense which it seems you lack.As you seem to think a lump of a dog will cover all situations ..As stated if in a tight spot how would you get a red one out??? Feck the earth ???..Or are you a believer in if the dog wants it it will dig on?? In rock ?? Chalk?? Tell me o great one were i said a lump of a dog will cover all situations, also this thread is not about charlie in tight spots, that was your boastful statement. LOOK AT ME EVERY ONE I CAN GET A FOX OUT A 8 INCH
  4. I agree with Tuggy, if we are talking about 100% earth dogs. Then the little hunt terriers you mention Donny would not be used for digging bigger places, as you even state that you have to have all types, so they wouldn't in my book be classed as 100% earth dogs. I like a dog that can find in big places and stops till dug. Donny think you should edit your post as that was not a smart remark you made.
  5. I wouln't take the chance of running on pups from Middleton or Ward lines as i have never seen a good one. T bags lives near me, and use to win all the shows around here but most knew he was not a digging man. An old friend of mines son once owned the red T bag bred dog Des M from Ireland won a lot of shows with, and it was no good when he had it, so no wonder a lot of these dogs are spewing.
  6. sorry thing is, some men think it does.
  7. i think it is good to know how your dogs are bred, and the fact that the name SMITH keeps coming up is because there is fellas out ther wanting to know about the history of their dogs, they are called working terrier enthusiasts. I bet you know the history of your chosen breed Lakeman.
  8. does he still breed those lines.
  9. looking on information on a dog called maguigan,i seen a nice dog at the weekend the man who had him told me he was by a brightmoore blooded dog called maguigan.i would be intrested in buying a pup from these lines.thanks. pm if you prefere
  10. did i not read on another thread that this dog quit
  11. I like the big old type border dog, not the little show bred type you see now.
  12. I had a good dog out of PH Flint , I think Flint was sired by Spartacus. Have you had Spartacus bred stuff Alfred? blackntan, how did he work, and what type was he.
  13. Good post WILF. Thats the problem, to many terrier getting bred for stamp/type now. Not many are breeding from tested stock. look at the bully type thread on here. I know some of the owners, and they haven't worked dogs for a number of yrs, yet they are still breeding pups. This, I know how its bred so I will take a chance and breed from him/her is the reason there is so many nervous scatty highly strung terriers about. If you cant find a good working stud from the line you keep, then its got to be worker to worker.
  14. Whats the up date on the mans dogs...
