  5. folks, just got a phone call from my hunting partner, some cuntin low life tried to get in to his kennels last night,a 07 c silver transit was the vehicle used, and a bloke with a black hoody was seen making fast his escape.all the lads in cork especially be on the alert,as jerry adams has said''THEY HAVENT GONE AWAY YOU KNOW''........thankfully the dogs made such a racket every neighbour within 50 yards hear the rucus and this i believe was their reason for lack of success.be vigilant as ever,it seems its starting again here.
  6. i have the pallets lined up to make a shelter/storage for the logs, all I need now is some tarp and dry weather ,which is ferkin scarce at the minute.is there a secret code of wood gatherers, pto or hyd..............what the hell is all that about?

  9. all russell behind her axum, nothing else....I saw her half brother yesterday being walked by a chap I barely know.I stopped and asked him of his dog and it came out he had the same father as my bitch.I knew from looking at him they were related.very the same looking, happily that dog is doing good things in the country also.hopefully mine will too.
  10. do I take it the hose was inserted into the bar hole to hear the dog?????or am i way off the mark?never seen or heard of a hose being carried out the country.its never too late to learn new stuff. Its right about being off the mark a bit on a dig, when you'd break in and realise the dog is that bit further on up the line.Diging and cutting to get to the back end of the dog and then if you had one a heavy dog to get a hold and pull the game and finalise the dig.In other cases then we used the tongs, anyone remember those babies??they were a god send back then too.It was nothing to do with being af

  14. you reminded me of a time we were digging at the butt of a ditch, cut through a water supply pipe, bloody 7 ft high spray of water and we had no choice but to keep digging to get the dog,who was completely unaware there were gallons of water being issued every few seconds, when we broke in through the mud we nearly drowned the dog in the stop end,he didnt have a clue what was happening, the poor animal.we were caked in mud and soaked to the skin, slipping and sliding in the quagmire and when we drew the game out it was soaked as well.to top it all it was fukin freezing the same day,we went and tol
  15. great replies folks but one question to col100,,,,whats the hose pipe for????I had russells before and a percentage were bayers, they were very vocal to the extent you'd think they were being absolutely pulverised below ground and when you'd open up on them they'd be relatively unscathed,in fact the best sounder we ever had was a lump of a white terrier which was a 1st x bull/russell.we could work this dog knowing his voice was his main tool, but ironically we lost him in a sand burrow when he slipped his lead one day while out walking.one more question to throw out there,IF we were back in the

  21. I have to say I miss the strong dogs neil.I had great admiration for them,I know the terrier did the real hard work but the lumps had to take a lot of stick to get the job done too,I would safetly state EVERY terrier man from long ago in Ireland anyway had some experience of owning or being present while a strong dog did his thing.god be with the days lol.
  22. very interesting,I must say, hand on heart Ive never seen any dog ever hurt from a t bar, when we use them(and still do to this day)we dont go ramming them down through the earth like a pile driver,lol..as for the feckers walking out and wanting to lend a hand at the dig,i have seen that but it never happened twice with the same dog and thats for sure.I can recall it was the done thing to try and work managable earths back then and avoid the deeper ones unless it was the last straw..and when we were on tour to new land owners and we faced with new earths we never knew how it would go but the rel
