  1. Hi there, the coursing will be based on gates and judged by an overall judge, hope that answers your question. Just a reminder to all, any more coursing entries need to be with me prior to the day (else an additonal cost may be incurred). Any attendees wanting to stay for lunch will need to let me know by Monday 23 January 2012, so that i can place the order at the pub. Hoping that you can all attend, sarah
  2. Hi You can pay me on the day but i need details of the dog that you want to run, in what event and to know whether you are going to stay for lunch afterwards, if you want to pm me the details that would be great
  3. Thank Rog, its only the entrance that gets wet, and i have chucked loads of bricks down AND i have faith in the British weather, but there is a tractor on stand by haha!! Why don't you come with the little terrors, i mean terriers anyway?? Kim, yes 16 dog card full already. so names please that would be good. Got a number of straight overs as well and the local farming community with their terriers, so i am hoping all goes well and the weather is kind for the next few weeks,
  4. Hi Kim I will have to draw the line at a 32 Dog stake for Coursing, else we will never get through all the racing in time for lunch at 2!!
  5. Hi Kim thanks for that, hopefully we will have a good turnout, I have already filled the first card for coursing and its only been advertised for 2 days, so i am really pleased with the response
  6. Dear All I wanted to load up the poster for this event, but my computer isn't playing ball at the moment, so i have copied the details on the poster below, which i hope has all the informaition you require. As you will see, I need to have details of any dog wishing to participate in the coursing, prior to the day. I will need the name of the dog, owner, description of dog and you will be asked to sign a form when you arrive confirming that is the dog you have bought to run. I will, subject to space, take entries on the day, but this will be at an additional cost see below. The Winn
  7. email address is zakthedingo@aol.com if you need to ask me anything

  8. Just to avoid any further confusion, and in light of some comments posted elsewhere on the web, I as the organisor of this show confirm that i asked a friend's son to take photographs for me at my show, they are in no way associated with Farlap photography and I take no responsibility for people saying different.
  9. Finally I have got around to going through all the results and papers and photographs to provide you with the results. Firstly, can i once again thank everyone who attended and took part in the day's events, we were very luck with the weather which provided the opportunity of increasing the number of cars through the gate to 260+, numbers were up in the terriers, racing and family dog ring, although a little down on previous years. We had 14 terrier pups and 79 entries, 21 lurcher pups with 91 entries and the family dog ring took saw 15 pups and an amazing 196 entries! So hear are
  10. You cheeky SOD, just because i am the best umpalumpa you know!!
  11. Thanks Luke for the write up,I might ask you to do the others for me !!lol I was really pleased for you winning with Tess after losing Roo and your face was a right picture - see you'll have to come back with the trophy again next year!! Another big thanks to all those who attended, it really was well attended and we took far more than previous years, once Ive done the final tally up will let you all know, along with the results
  12. Sorry for the lateness, just got back in from the field: Terriers: Alan Taylor, Lurchers: Marilyn Saunders and family, Emma Bryan
  13. Great, it would be good if all can make it. Weather looks set to be good. All"proper" classes in Terrier and Lurcher rings have a small trophy for a class win (to be returned) and JamesWellbeloved have again excelled themselves with the prices. We have a couple of stalls, so should be something for everyone.
  14. Just been up and collected all the trophies and rosettes, going up the field later to mow the grass, grown with all this hot weather. Hope to see some of you there on Sunday
  15. Gonetoearth, you are unable to receive any messages, are there any qualifiers still available for this? Is so, can you pm me and let me know how to apply for my show on Easter Sunday, thanks
  16. Just a reminder that this show is not far away now, any support is always gratefully received for a very worthy charity.
  17. Hi All Sorry to have to do this, but the venue for this year's show has changed. At least it is not at the last minute. See the new poster below for details. All the events are the same and camping still available. Or for those of you who prefer little home comforts, the pub opposite the field does bed and breakfast, will be open all day on the day of the show and meals - what more could you want!! http://www.stagecoach-inn.co.uk Can you pass the word around because unfortunately there is something in the region of 500 posters and flyers gone out. Many thanks Sarah
  18. Hi All Please see poster below with details of this year's show. The Show is back in its orginal field again this year! Overnight camping available but please let me know in advance. If you have any questions, pm, email or call me. Hope to see you all there
  19. Not my sort of dogs actually luv. If you lived in Somerset then YOU would know who my husband is
  20. Yes part of the show brigade, but my dogs are worked in the winter by my husband. Also don't think you can tell that my dogs are pampered, just got a good friend who takes decent photographs and puts them on my signature for me. Typical comments from someone outside the ring looking in if you ask me. Agree with Shushycatcher, you can have dogs that do both - you need to know what you are buying/breeding from the start
  21. Show stock is a quote used by lads and lasses that only work their dogs and don't necessarily look after the dogs teeth, nails and coat. smacks of jealously if you ask me. like someone above asked, if you think only working dogs should be at these shows, your hypocritical becuase you've attended. AND to say that you only go along for the crack and to meet friends well glad you all have the money to do this week in week out. The lady who owns the champion has at least, been honest, more than some people.
  22. A judge wraps the tail up and under the belly as some old lurcher folk believe that if the tail meets the spine this is the correct length. A working lurcher needs a good length of tail to allow ease of turning and balance so that it does not overrun, or fall on turning. There are other ways of measuring the tail, such as pulling it down towards the stifle, so it is judge's preference. On the day, the dog should be fit, healthy, good confirmation and have ring presence, however, if you are lucky enough to judge a good show and you end up with 8 really good dogs in the final, then it will co
  23. not haveing a dig the juged BUT what does pulling his tail round have to with a dog lifting the front legs up and droping him mean the dogs faster better at catching gear more stay ????????????????????????i did aske someone they couldt answer GOOD SHOW Pulling the dogs tail is all to do with balance, a good judge will be able to watch the "reaction" through the dogs spine. Dropping the dog on its front feet will allow to the judge to see two things, one the natural position of the dogs shoulders and hence the legs and feet- which in turn allows you to see the width of chest, rather
  24. Wow - you've picked a good spot for them there. Glad you like the trophies, you look after them for the year and see if you retain them next year - have a look at the new threat "results", I think you'll like the picture!!SDW
